Big UFC PPV this weekend in HD

Silva has very good takedown defense judging from some of his older fights I've seen.

thanks for the info... i know UFC has to sell their title fight, but when i hear Rogan claim Lutter presents a matchup problem for Silva, i aint buying it, after watching Silva dissect and punish Rich Franklin.

Exactly, it will be over in the 1st round.

Couple points I'd like to add:
1. Silva is a very legit BJJ blackbelt. He's beyond dangerous, even for a methodical Lutter. he owns that division. noones in his class in the UFC.
2. Rampage is not the same fighter he was during the first Liddell fight. Since he's lost the thugish mentality, and the frequent "mofos" in his speech, he's also lost his fire. The guys game is missing something.
3. crocop being the class of the UFC heavyweight division isn't saying much.
4. don't really care about the GSP Serra fight. GSP is going to pound Serra as quickly as Serra will allow him to. That fight will be played very cautiously and should be boring...throw in the fact that these two kinda like eachother, and it only gets worse. Im not talking about a chess match on the ground, im talking about a snooze fest on the ground, just north of laying and praying.

Thats my 2 cents.

I'd also like to add....since the time I saw Kevin Randleman fight Cro-cop and crocop got KTFO'd bad...anything can happen...this sport is truly amazing. the above post is just my feelings if things go according to expectations.

Lutter isn't a slouch at BJJ either though, in fact I would say hes better than Silva...I do think Anderson will win though, I don't think Lutter will be able to get him down, and there is no way he can trade punches with him...

Breaking news regading this fight:Travis Lutter was originally scheduled to fight Anderson Silva on Saturday, Feb 3rd for the Middleweight Championship, however the fight was changed to a non-title contest due to Lutter's inability to make weight. He could only get down to 186.5, just half a pound away....
I will never understand not making weight, this is the guys biggest fight ever, and he ****s it all up by not making weight...If he doesn't either win or have a VERY entertaining fight, I doubt Dana will have him back.

I don't think he was even the better fighter when he fought Chuck, I thought Chuck was unprepared and had a bad showing...He is still a good fighter, and very marketable though...
3. crocop being the class of the UFC heavyweight division isn't saying much.
Yes, the UFC HW division sucks, but it is getting better and Crocop does bring legitimacy to it...Ratings are obviously very debatable, but in the most widely accepted top ten, Mirko is #2 in the world at heavyweight He has fought all of the best fighters at that weight, and beat most of them...

This fight is not on the show, St. Pierre injured his knee in training a month ago...I disagree with your assessment of the fight though, I think it would have been very exciting. Ive never seen a GSP fight that was boring, Im not even sure its possible...The BJ Penn fight was the only time he fought a real BJJ specialist, and even though it went to the judges, it was still a great fight...

Well he did come back for a rematch and guillotine him in the first minute...You're right though anything can happen, who would have thought Jens Pulver would lose to a guy(Lauzon) that no one had ever heard of in such a brutal way...Or that Heath Herring would get beat the way he did for 3 rounds....

Its nice to be able to talk MMA on here finally!:D

1. I was just stating the BJJ thing about Silva, because folks assume he's a pure stand-up guy cause his stand up is so devastating. Lutter's strength is the ground no doubt.
Thanks for the breaking news! That sucks, If Lutter gets handled, he won't be invited back for sure. Very lame not making weight.

2. I think Rampage was in the midst of a meteoric acension in that first fight. He was killing people. He was throwing around Tito in training...He was at the top of his game. I do agree that he is totally marketable though, and a great addition. Hey, I like the guy! I want to see him succeed. Too bad he'd probably never fight Tito tho.

3. I still put Nog over cro-cop.

4. I know this fight is post-poned between GSP and Serra. I just think its a bad match-up for Serra big time. His power is a huge issue, and he's not gonna be able to do anything to GSP...hell he could barely take down Shonie Carter! Its gonna be a matter of survival, hence, could turn into a boring fight if he succeeds in surviving. And don't get me wrong, I like Serra, and he is a bjj specialist, but lets just say he is no where near BJ Penn's league. BJ Penn is a true MMA freak.

You see Lindland subbed Carlos newton tonight in Houston? 2nd round guillotine. I liked Newton back in the day, but he's clearly not the same fighter he was. other guys (like Lindlan, Couture, Liddell) age like wine.

I wanna see Bas fight one more time !

Lutter is a moron!!

Lutter is a moron!!

I still can't get over than...blown opportunity.

As far as the Silva fight, Im just gonna say, thank god for UFC fans, that he is not NEARLY as obnoxious as he used to be.(Silva that is)

Lutter went from being an American underdog who would have the entire crowd behind him in a title fight. To now being a guy who pissed off everyone who bought a ticket cause he screwed them out of seeing a title fight.

Lutter will get destroyed in Rd 1 anyway, now its just gonna pop the fans into a roar of cheers!!!!!

yea, I wonder if his strategy is going to change. He may be more daring, and thus get KTFO much sooner than later, now that the whole situation is F'd.

lets be honest, nobody on that stupid Tv show was any good. And nobody on that show would last 1 round with the champ.

Silva is a beast, he will destroy Lutter who won a game-show esentially to get this fight. If it goes past 1 round I would be shocked.

LOL...and i think Serra poses even less threat to his opponent. He had trouble taking down EVERYBODY in that competition. he is far too weak to fight in that weight class. whether it was GSP or Hughes, he would'nt have faired well. As far as Lutter, at least he stood the best chance against the 185 lb champ, but barring a fluke/miracle, he's gonna get smoked.
