Big UFC PPV this weekend in HD

Its nice to be able to talk MMA on here finally!:D
Yeah there are a few of us who have pretty good regular conversations on MMA, you should go back through some of the older pages in this "Other Sports" forum...

1. I was just stating the BJJ thing about Silva, because folks assume he's a pure stand-up guy cause his stand up is so devastating. Lutter's strength is the ground no doubt.
Thanks for the breaking news! That sucks, If Lutter gets handled, he won't be invited back for sure. Very lame not making weight.
Yeah, alot of people don't know Silva has BJJ skills since he hasn't had to use them yet...I think it suits him to stay on his feet over here, Id say in the 185lb division, he has the best stand up skills by far...I thought him against Franklin would be more of a stand up war. He proved his stand up skills were head and shoulders above who most people would have said was the best in the UFC MW division at the time....

2. I think Rampage was in the midst of a meteoric acension in that first fight. He was killing people. He was throwing around Tito in training...He was at the top of his game. I do agree that he is totally marketable though, and a great addition. Hey, I like the guy! I want to see him succeed. Too bad he'd probably never fight Tito tho.
Yeah Id like to see Rampage and Tito, it definitely could happen too...I remember when Chuck and Tito were friends and training partners, look at them now...Not to mention that Tito/Rampage would be big money if Quinton he shows up for his next couple fights...

3. I still put Nog over cro-cop.
Well, there is definitely a case for Nog...He is the one guy besides Fedor that Crocop hasn't beaten..(The Hunt/Mirko fight was so close, I really wish we could see a rematch...Im pretty sure Crocop would win.)

4. I know this fight is post-poned between GSP and Serra. I just think its a bad match-up for Serra big time. His power is a huge issue, and he's not gonna be able to do anything to GSP...hell he could barely take down Shonie Carter! Its gonna be a matter of survival, hence, could turn into a boring fight if he succeeds in surviving. And don't get me wrong, I like Serra, and he is a bjj specialist, but lets just say he is no where near BJ Penn's league. BJ Penn is a true MMA freak.
BJ, is one of the best in the business, I love watching him fight...I guess we have to wait until the end of TUF5 to see him again, probably agianst Jens Pulver........

I still think the fight will be good when it does happen, even if its a short fight with GSP dominating, it should be full of excitement...

Lutter went from being an American underdog who would have the entire crowd behind him in a title fight. To now being a guy who pissed off everyone who bought a ticket cause he screwed them out of seeing a title fight.

Lutter will get destroyed in Rd 1 anyway, now its just gonna pop the fans into a roar of cheers!!!!!
Dana White must be livid right now, this has the potential of doing a pretty good buy rate, and now fans realize they have no title fight.....

you got a point about chuck and tito, although rampage and tito are a lot closer than those two ever were. but you truly never know...and rampage likes his money ..LOL.

and when is TUF5 gonna air? whats the gist of it this time round? I really don't watch spike unless its on or im catchin a joes vs pros marathon.

You see Lindland subbed Carlos newton tonight in Houston? 2nd round guillotine. I liked Newton back in the day, but he's clearly not the same fighter he was. other guys (like Lindlan, Couture, Liddell) age like wine.

I wanna see Bas fight one more time !
I hadn't checked the results, but I cant say I'm surprised by the decision..Lindland is arguably the best MW in the world right now, its ridiculous that he isn't in the UFC, the only reason I could think of is White thinks he will be a boring fighter...He fought Rampage back in July at the WFA show, moving up a weight class, and almost won the fight...And in the bravest move I have seen by an MMA fighter, he is going to take on Fedor April 14th at the Bodog PPV...

I think it will be a good season, there will be alot more match up opportunities and it should really help to boost the LW division....Then again, I think I am the only person who liked last season....

yea thats just insane. Bodog must be paying these guys a fortune, because it really isn't a great move for either of these guys careers. Whats Fedor got to gain? And Lindland may possibly die if Fedor gives his usual dose of GnP. I think there were contract issues with Lindland if Im not mistaken, regarding the UFC.

Predictions for the Show

Winners in bold...

UFC 67 ON SUPER BOWL WEEKEND: FEBRUARY 3, 2007 IN LAS VEGAS

Main Card Bouts:

-Mirko Cro Cop vs. Eddie Sanchez--“Right leg: hospital. Left leg: morgue†Easiest fight to call in a long time...Mirko is at (-1400) while Sanchez is at (+900)....

-Anderson Silva vs. Travis Lutter--Cmon, this is gonna be a massacre...

-Quinton Jackson vs. Marvin Eastman--Rampage should come out and have a great showing, it will set up some good fights, and huge paydays down the line...

-Roger Huerta vs. John Halverson--Although, I think the odds are worth taking a shot on Halverson(+600)....

-Scott Smith vs. Patrick Cote--This one is a little too close to call, Ill take Cote in a boring fight....

Preliminary Bouts
:

-Lyoto Machida vs. Sam Hoger--I hope this fight is shown on TV, I think it will be the fight of the night....Anyone who doesnt know who Lyoto is, should find out, now. Hers a hint he has beaten Franklin, Bonnar and BJ Penn and hes undefeated...

-Tyson Griffin vs. Frank Edgar--Again, I think the odds are worth taking a shot on Edgar(+550)...

-Jorge Rivera vs. Terry Martin--Another one I'm not so sure about, its a coin toss for me...

-Dustin Hazelett vs. Diego Saraiva--Who really cares except for their mothers....Ill take the guy who has fought in the UFC before, and who trains with Rich Franklin...

CroCop hasn't beaten Hunt either. As far as Nogueira, if you watched the fight, CroCop was destroying Nogueira until he got submitted. Mirko lost because he had basically no takedown defense. Today, that's different and he'd likely win over Nogueira.

Today, CroCop ranking-wise is probably #2, second only to Fedor.

the canvas is too slick, these guys are slipping all over.no good.

couture vs. silvia...very interesting...

that should've been a NC. not a disqualification, but a NC. Yves Lavigne is a bad ref. how many freebies was he gonna let him take at his head while he was defenseless? You can knee a downed man anywhere...head shoulder...doesn't matter.

Lutter has a deer in the headlights look.

That fight won't last long

Crocop came out to the Pride theme ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaa...
