Breaking News: Mike Pouncey not likely to be punished by the NFL

yet another case of fans wanting to get rid of a solid player, without having a replacement for him. or thinking just getting an average center will be good enough, just because they don't like the guy.

Actually, I've stated multiple times that I was hoping they would draft his replacement this year in the middle rounds. His one year left would have been enough time for the rookie to learn the ropes. Of course, that was before hurt his hip at the club or whatever, which makes that plan even better. Instead, here we are.

Miami didn't have a competent oline last year. and the line would be better with a pouncey at center, than without. unless someone can step up and play at a pro bowl level.

Did somebody claim we did? And wasn't Pouncey a part of it? Hell, he was the "leader" of it.

pouncey was the best part of that oline. one offensive lineman can't help the other 4, and block for them.

Yeah, last year wasn't the only time our line was ****. He does nothing to improve the unit around him, which is something you expect out of top players on the offensive line. I guess I just expect more out of the highest drafted center in the history of the NFL, and that's not to mention him being a complete idiot off the field.

I will agree that we are stuck with him for this year, well, maybe half of it. Good thing he looked out for the team and opted for the surgery earlier. Certainly not looking out only for himself, opting for surgery at a time that will get him back on the field with just enough time left in his contract year to show that he can still hike a ball. What was said in the other thread? Looking for that payday?

That was the worst the line has been, since pouncey has been here. the line has been just fine, prior to last year. not the greatest, but they were not a huge gaping whole. how do you know he doesn't help the guards out? have they said anything to that effect? You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink. and again, you can speculate on the timing of pouncey's surgery all you want. we will just have to agree to disagree. who knows, maybe he was hoping to not have to do the surgery at all. maybe it got progressively worse. no one knows. but you can spin it any way you like.

 Tell me about it.

I'm judging by the product and the product has been ****. You're judging by, well, I don't know what, because the line hasn't improved much from year to year with Pouncey. We could go by PFF rankings I suppose, but that's only useful when it puts the Phins in a positive light, right? (according to PFF, we went from 23rd best line to 21st last year  )

As for speculating about the timing of the surgery, I have no reason to give a turd like him the benefit of the doubt given his history of decision making.

Personally, I'd love for him to stop being an idiot off the field and putting himself in these situations all the time. Unfortunately, he isn't showing any signs of doing that.

It's the center position. Average will be good enough.

I don't think you can put the overall ranking of the oline on one player. Even the center position.

Lol, why do some dolphins fans like mediocre so much?

Lol, why do some dolphins fans like mediocre so much?

Because if an offensive line player ever turns out to be great he will than want to get paid like a top lineman and everybody will cry "linemen aren't worth that kind of money."

That's still sarcasm Lurking/

Mike Pouncey is a good player but a bit of a knucklehead. The departure of Richie Incognito from the team actually presents a better opportunity to evaluate him without a bad mentor to steer him into trouble. These posts to kick Pouncey off the team seem misplaced. Let's see how he:
(a) recovers from surgery (the scars will be hidden with tattoos)
(b) comes back and plays
(c) keeps out of trouble off the field
before he is offered a new contract.

I got the sarcasm in this post, but I still think you back peddled out of the last one. But all is good.

Not entirely, but you should certainly see an improvement. We have not. Actually, we've seen quite the opposite. The unit has become a dysfunctional mess and he was a key part of that. Luckily, the unit got a little real leadership in Albert. Unfortunately, he's injury prone. The best thing going for the unit is the new o-line coach, not Pouncey.
