BREAKING NEWS: "Williams ordered to PAY BACK 8.6 Million."

The LAW has no say what so ever in matters regarding Player Rights in the NFL.....It is called a collective bargaining agreement...that was agreed too and is the law of the NFL land.....That Ambulance chaser is as wrong as the rest of them....

The NFL has rules....they govern by their rules....
This is what I was thinking. All this talk about losing his rights from these "attorneys" from the Herald, etc., they don't give any reasoning for why Miami would lose his rights -- they just say that they would. I'm not buying it.

But again, I would think that the NFL would have control over this issue.

iam i the only that thinks it wrong to take some of the new orleans money
Considering we gave them two first round picks I would say Miami is owed that money as well.

Wouldn't a bankrupt hearing take into account that he is refusing to work and is capable of making millions of dollars a year. As opposed to most people the file who are not making jack squat. You would think that the judge would have some leaway in this situation and could rule that miami can keep his rights. Just because Ricky files does not mean that they have to grant everything that he asks for does it?

Because their not in sh1t this deep!! And probably don't have the need for that much legal service.

It's real simple, Miami won't go for the money, they'll just keep ricky's rights.
Also if this was the case, couldn't Terrell Owens have done the same thing? He wanted out of SanFran so bad that if this was an "option" of getting out of your contract to become a free agent (especially with the Baltimore-Philly debacle), I believe he would have tried it.

Ricky William better get use to living out on a Tent!

What I think they're getting at is if you file for bankruptcy, that, in lack for a better word, "cancels" any binding contracts. Everyone who is entitled to some of that cash will only see a certain percentage. I'm not a lawyer but I'm pretty sure thats what happens.

We gotta have a lawyer in the house???

That's exactly what that bk attny was saying... it was something along the lines that when chp 7 is filed it "discharges" all debt (which is true cause i deal with a lot of that at my job) and then a trustee is appointed. If the trustee can't fulfill the contract (which he couldn't cause he isn't a football player) in 60 days then the contract is terminated... which means on the 61st day Ricky can look for a new contract. I'm just repeating what i heard that Fierberg guy say. And Roby's agent said something along the lines of the same thing.

Sorry but, that's a huge load of crap.

first of all Ricky DID NOT give 110% to this organization....Last year,BY HIS OWN WORDS he said he wasn't running as hard as he did the year before. Nevermind the fact that in order to give a 110% you should probably FINISH YOUR CONTRACT.

Any player sympathetic to Ricky is this case, is someone with the same character as him so, no big loss if some whacko doesn't like what happened and decides not to play here.
exactly. Everybody in/around the league knows Ricky screwed us. and screw anyone who believes otherwise.

BS......The guy is refusing to WORK.......If he got a NEW contract...he would then have to pay back the money then......

A bankruptcy court cannot tell the NFL who his rights belong too....that's it.

Wouldnt the NFL come up with some sorta compensation like they did for the Ravens in the TO situation, if we lost his rights?

It sucks I know but thats the way it is. I would rather have the rights!

horse poop

we all know even if he pays it back, if his rights are gone, he will make that salary easy wherever he signs. Thats not right either. A quitter should be held responsible. HE is a quitter.

He still has 4 failed drug test. Does the name Dexter Manley ring any bells??

I dont think so. The NFL will protect the rights of the team here in a big way. Wicky's rights ...if he decides to play again....will still be ours. However, dude's rights aren't worth much anyhow...but it'll be nice having control over him when he figures out that he can't feed himself on truth after Mom boots him from her basement.
