BREAKING NEWS: "Williams ordered to PAY BACK 8.6 Million."

forgive me for being ignorant -

So if Smokey Joe pays the 8.6 mil back, does that now become cap money? or where does it go?

sorry, i just read the herald article. not going to happen. the NFL won't allow that to happen, because then people will pull this when they want a new deal or a new team.
the NFL doesn't have a damn thing to do with it once it goes to federal bankruptcy court.

how the hell can they take his house under homestead?

Sorry but, that's a huge load of crap.

first of all Ricky DID NOT give 110% to this organization....Last year,BY HIS OWN WORDS he said he wasn't running as hard as he did the year before. Nevermind the fact that in order to give a 110% you should probably FINISH YOUR CONTRACT.

Any player sympathetic to Ricky is this case, is someone with the same character as him so, no big loss if some whacko doesn't like what happened and decides not to play here.

The only reason he wasn't running as hard was because he never had a chance to get running! When you are hit as soon as the ball is handed to you, its not conducive to a good running game.

The Dolphins organization blew it by not protecting him with a skilled offensive line that could protect him from a crippling injury that could hamper him for life. When they refused to address this...I don't blame the man for retiring....I don't think anyone would want to work in an environment that provides great chances for tremendous injury no matter what the salary is supposed to be.

To drive him to retirement and than go after money he has earned is just not the way any organization should treat their employees. If you don't think this treatment of Ricky will hurt this organization for years to come, you are wrong. It will enter into the back of every free agent's mind and other teams will turn this seed into a tree.

This is another sign of the Dolphins mismanagement....any free agent seeing the team take this sort of action against a player who gave 110% for the organization during the last 2 seasons has to be crazy to consider Miami as a signing option.

If they aren't coming to Miami because of this we DO NOT want them here period.... :shakeno:

You file for bankruptcy, fine, but don't you have to sell off a certain amount of your possessions to creditors? I know he sold some assets, but what about his bank accounts? Can't we freeze them or something? Doesn't he have a house?

Refused to address it??!!?? Are you out of your mind?

3 FAs and a first round draft pick spent on ADDRESSING the O-line.

You're really reaching, man.

Yeah...free agents who suck! For all they did....they might as well have signed me (and I could have sucked just as well as an OL).

Okay...you ARE out of your mind....nm.

I say give him his money back but instead he has to come to a home game and let each fan take three whacks at him with a polo mallet.

I'm not an attorney, but I'm not so sure about this. I would agree that the NFL might not have anything to do with how the bankrupty is dealt with. But, I would have to assume that they would have a lot to do with how his rights are handled.

Originally, you said they did not address it. They did, but apparently not to your liking. Jeno James is a quality player, and if McIntosh is healthy, he will contribute as well. While I agree they might have reached a bit to get Carey, that only shows even more effort they made to address it.
