BREAKING NEWS: "Williams ordered to PAY BACK 8.6 Million."

sorry, i just read the herald article. not going to happen. the NFL won't allow that to happen, because then people will pull this when they want a new deal or a new team.

...where are all these crazy rights questions coming from? his rights have nothing to do with this ruling at all.
Look no further than the Miami Herald and the high five boys trying to stir things up.

there's a lot of misinformed, misdirected anger here. i don't think atrain40 is out of line on the NO money. that doesn't make any sense. now what the team paid him in incentives, hell yeah, they should get this back. some people here are acting like they are allowed to write checks out of wayne's bank account.

But the Dolphins traded 2 first rounds picks to NO for RW and I believe that entitles them to any prorated portion of the signing bonus also. First round picks, if the could be sold, would be worth many many millions of dollars.

This is another sign of the Dolphins mismanagement....any free agent seeing the team take this sort of action against a player who gave 110% for the organization during the last 2 seasons has to be crazy to consider Miami as a signing option.

What is this "we get the money back" talk? WE don't get anything back, Wayne H. does, and I beleive ( I may be wrong) that none of that money Williams owes WH counts towards the cap.

that's the best argument i've heard. i'm not sure i'd go all out to punish him here. he's worth a lot more if he can be convinced to come back and agree to a trade. i wouldn't seek money i didn't pay, and i'd chalk one draft pick up to the two years the team got and i'd work to get the other first round pick back in a trade for his rights (to oakland?)

iam i the only that thinks it wrong to take some of the new orleans money

We took over his original contract for New Orleans so that means it is our money. Don't worry, New Orleans isn't complaining after having received our 2 first round picks.

That sounds fair to me. He did help us for two years. Everyone is just hurt now because of the way that he did us this year.

Do we really care that Wayne gets to recover his money other than a vindictive wish to stick Ricky?.What we are interested is his rights so the next FO has more picks to work with in rebuilding this team.Thats what I want to know. What about his rights.

Having said that it does increase the Fins bargaining position and I would not be surprised to see Ricky having second thoughts about his retirement.I can see it now.A contrite Ricky in a mea culpa "I should have not gotten away from my medication.I aplogize to the team, the fans who believed in me,my teammates ...etc) ..yada...yada..yada.

i bet he is going to wish he had shown up for training camp.

The money is awarded to the Miami Dolphins...not Wayne's personal bank account. Although he is the principle owner, he is not the sole owner.

Spielman suggested that some of the money would be used to build a "bubble" for a weather safe practice facility.

Some of the money could be used as a signing bonus to lock up Surtain or Randy Mac to a long term deal. Basically, reinvest the money into players that are loyal to this team.

Sorry but, that's a huge load of crap.

first of all Ricky DID NOT give 110% to this organization....Last year,BY HIS OWN WORDS he said he wasn't running as hard as he did the year before. Nevermind the fact that in order to give a 110% you should probably FINISH YOUR CONTRACT.

Any player sympathetic to Ricky is this case, is someone with the same character as him so, no big loss if some whacko doesn't like what happened and decides not to play here.

Agreed 110%

The reason I am in favor of going after the money is because of all the sh*t he did to the organization and how he made himself out to be innocent. If he wanted to retire because his heart wasn't into playing anymore and he does it at the end of the season than I'm ok with letting him keep his money. I would still be dissapointed but then we can look to get somebody in the draft. But that wasn't the case. He quits a week before camp saying he's on a quest for the truth, doesn't have the decency to have a press conference to face the music, tests positive for marijuana 2 more times, calls the phins and makes it looks like it is the phins fault with the team not playing "real football", all but dared the phins to go after his money with his "how are they going to look going after a man who has to feed his 3 children" story, then goes out and says he'd play for the Raiders becuase "they'd accept him". A contract is a contract and the dolphins gave everything for the man and we're willing to take him in despite all of the red flags and this is how he repays them. Hit him where it hurts!
