BREAKING NEWS: "Williams ordered to PAY BACK 8.6 Million."

Wouldnt the NFL come up with some sorta compensation like they did for the Ravens in the TO situation, if we lost his rights?
I agree, we need to get something out of Ricky. Maybe we can get a compensation of a 1st rounder? I would even take the idea they passed around for TO which was adding a 33rd pick to the 1st round.

Section, Per an article by Jason Cole today in the Miami Hearld.

"The Dolphins might win the right to collect $8.6 million from retired running back Ricky Williams, but lose the rights to him in the process."

BS......The guy is refusing to WORK.......If he got a NEW contract...he would then have to pay back the money then......

A bankruptcy court cannot tell the NFL who his rights belong too....that's it.
I'm not trying to disagree with you 126... i'm only repeating what i'm hearing on the radio... trust me... i really hope you're right.

having no idea how this works out, right now i would be very happy with ricky having to pay back all the money he owes us, the nfl awards us with the 33rd pick in the draft as compensation and ricky is free to peddle his services elsewhere. if we do retain his rights, which i think we will, will we be able to get that much in trade?

excuse me?? First of all, I am no religious nut per say, but 3 kids out of wedlock is nothing to brag about to begin with. Second, who the hell thinks a guy who runs around the world and smokes pot is a parental roll model
And who are you to judge him?

He still has 4 failed drug test. Does the name Dexter Manley ring any bells??

Dexter at least won a ring or two and didnt quit on his team a week before tc.

How long does he have to pay it back? Wouldn't Ricky be buying back his rights if he's paying off his bonuses? Maybe theres another clever contract clause that will let us keep his rights too.

SOmehow I think Ricky owes more than money to this team. He screwed us pretty badly...Doesn't the NFL credit us with any picks for losing our foundation and not getting anything in return?

I was wondering the same thing. Can anyone comment on this?

Whilke you have evry right to bash him for what he's done as far as the team, I think questioning his parenting skills might be a bit out of line

Lawrence, sometimes being politically correct isn't correct. Stop defending the him. Would anyone defend Ricky if he was doing what Lawrence said I do, which is "clean toilets"? If he quit cleaning toilets, told everyone he smoked marijuana, and said that he would be forced to file bankruptcy so he could feed his kids?

You guys with the multiple Cyber presonalities crack me up.They talk to each other, even argue with each other ,give each other props .(If you want to know who they are just look at the stars they give each other).Get a life.!!

Yes,there is even one member who has 5 different personalities.Dont know how yet but I will soon.

Just a little tidbit from someone who works with credit on a daily basis. Once that Chapter 7 is complete .. after the 60th day when all contracts that were unable to be honored are desolved ... it is then Discharged. Once that Bk is discharged Ricky is free to do what he likes. You can't re-open it ... and the Fins would get $0.00 from any new contract that Ricky signs.

Oh .. and ...

J E T S .. JETS JETS JETS

do you realize how many carries he had the last two years its just diffucult for a back
to do that as we realize now. he was a warrior,i dont agree with timing but i dont take a mans money he earned we should take some but not all

we're not claiming his salary back - we are claiming the signing bonus back, as well as future unearned salary (for 2005 season and beyond). he was paid his salary for what he did - that is not what the team is after. In other words he earned his pay for what he did, and he was paid. We are not after what he earned. We are after what he DID NOT earn... the part of his contract that he did NOT satisfy.

We also don't owe New Orleans anything - we gave them two first rounders PLUS a 6th (or was it a 5th?) for a Running Back that wasn't even going to be starting for them anymore (they already drafted Deuce at that point). New Orleans (in hindsight) raped us on that deal. Ricky (in hindsight) raped US in this deal. We deserve some payback, but no amount of $ he could pay back would ever salvage this season. I would trade that 8 million in an instant to go back in time to that friday night he called Dave and make him change his mind about retiring.

The LAW has no say what so ever in matters regarding Player Rights in the NFL.....It is called a collective bargaining agreement...that was agreed too and is the law of the NFL land.....That Ambulance chaser is as wrong as the rest of them....

The NFL has rules....they govern by their rules....
Every time I think you cannot top yourself and go and prove me wrong.

The law has no say in players rights? The heck it doesn't. The law can tell a record company that they no longer own the rights to a performer. Its the same situation.

If the law rules against the NFL then there is nothing they can do. The US Law overrules the NFL.

The NFL is not special for other businesses.

He is not right. Disagree with him. He is running around acting like he knows something when he doesn't.

And he says I have that attitude.
