Carolina Panthers agreed to terms with QB Carr, on two years contract, according to KFFl

I wouldnt have minded Carr but he still would not have been the long term answer IMO.

Mueller never wanted him in the first place. He wants Quinn and Trent Green. If we lose out on Green, then I predict that Mueller will do everything he can to move up and get Quinn.

We just lost some ground in the talks with KC. We no longer have a second option, and now the Browns are willing to give up more compensation for Green then us. Looks like we might have to give up a 3rd or 4th rounder now.

People here in Charlotte could not be happier. Anyone is better than Weinke. I would have liked to see Carr as a backup on the 'fins, but I guess the point of bringing in a QB would be to compete for starter. I liked Carr over Green, however if talks stall I would be anxious to see what happens in the draft.

Well, I'm sure he wanted Culpepper last year also.

Only if we are idiots.

I wonder if the Panthers are still going to sign Joey ... as a 3rd stringer? I heard they were looking at him. Joey seemed like an alright guy who was trying and all that ... but, er, this is the NFL ... the "Not For Long" league. Being one of the 32 starting QBs is a very tough job to get and keep ... don't matter if you were the #3 overall 1st round pick 5 years ago.

Joey should at least get a job somewhere as a 3rd stringer and work his way up to a backup QB job. I know I wouldn't complain. Just making 3rd stringer money in the NFL is damn good to 99.9% of the people in America.

I would rather resign Joey than bring in Green.

Good news for the rest of the AFCE. The numbers tend to indicate otherwise, but I'm glad this guy won't be in the division.

I liked Carr. I thought he would be a viaable backup but then again Im sure Muler knows what hes talkin about. Im a little more woried about the o-Line right now than our QB position. I understand there is a huge question in Culpepper but I think we have to belive that he can do it. We've invested a seccond round pick in him and he once was the seccond best QB behind only Peyton Manning. The o-line is well for lack of a better word not there. We have who RT Vernon Carey, C Rex Hadnot and guard Chris Liwienski (no clue if hes a starter or a backup). Everyone else was let go and not replaced and the market is now thin. So that being said our o-line last year was better than no o-line this year.

Joey is a veteran now in the league, although his salary wouldn't be guaranteed and he won't get a signing bonus, a team will be required to pay him the vet minimum of I believe $720,000. Not too shabby at all.
