CB Jaire Alexander getting cut

Miami Dolphins

Alexander was elite throughout the 2022 season. The former Louisville standout recorded a career-high five interceptions en route to his second Pro Bowl appearance and Second-Team All-Pro nod. His defensive coordinator that year was Joe Barry, who is now a defensive assistant coach with the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins should also be in the market for a veteran cornerback. They're expected to trade Jalen Ramsey before training camp begins. Ramsey's inevitable departure will leave DC Anthony Weaver with Storm Duck, Cam Smith, Artie Burns, and Jason Marshall Jr. as his in-house options at boundary corner. Alexander would immediately step into a starting role.
The Ethan Bonner slander.

We should at least kick the tires.

If we can get him on a low base, high incentive salary, we should bring him in.

We need to do something at CB anyway. Because right now our CB rooms looks as bad as I've ever seen it since I started watching the team.

The Dolphins need to stay as far away from this guy as possible.
Seven games in 2 years is not a recipe for success.
Hopefully the Grier has learned his lesson
He’s played 14 games in 2 years. Not that this is great, but it’s double 7. Lol

Judging by McDaniel's comments in his presser and some of the reports out there (Barry especially), the team is completely uninterested in Alexander.

Litmus test A - no change in culture if they trade one problem for a very similar problem.

Litmus test B - no change in culture if #10 is a captain again.
Tyreek stands no chance of getting elected as a captain again. Dolphins could have at least 5 new captains this year. Terron - gone, Ramsey - gone, Calais - gone, David Long - gone, Tyreek - voted off . Tua, Ingold, and Sieler should remain. Maybe this is the year to narrow the designation back to just six players, an argument could be made having 8 may water down the value of a captaincy a bit. BTW, Wiki says the NFL has a rule limiting teams to 6 captains, but it's rarely enforced -

"Designation

While NFL rules state that teams may name up to six captains, this rule is not strictly enforced. In 2019, four teams named seven captains at the beginning of the regular season: the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and New York Giants."
