the dolphins took a gamble when they signed incognito in 2010. he had a horrible history. but prior to these events it appeared that he had become a real success story. turned his life around. model teammate. shared in the good citizen award. made the pro bowl. when the players voted him team leader for this season, nobody questioned it, because he was one of the leaders and most well liked players on the team.
the incidents of the past, dirty play, stupid 15 yard penalties, temper, hot headedness, on field scuffles, no longer happened.
i have no idea what happened when he goosed this girl with his golf club while he had been drinking. i've done plenty of stupid things myself. i don't think all the good he did for three years here went out the window because of that incident. all the good will he had built up. i am glad the team stood up for him and did not cut him. this martin incident pisses me off to no end because it is dragging the team through the mud, and richie's manner of expressing himself to martin (and probably his other teammates) leaves a lot to be desired. but now it appears that other players spoke to martin (and probably other teammates) in such vulgar terms (as per the unnamed teammate talking about martin's sister). "i'm going to your mother this." "i'm going to your sister that." "i'm going to blank in your mouth." "you half n-word."
i have hung out in crowds of guys that routinely talk like this to one another (and worse). and now it isn't just incognito. it is another "unnamed player." if talking to each other like this is par for the course among the team, richie needs to apologize to jon martin and needs to be reinstated to the team. at no time do i feel anyone intended to harm martin's mother, kill martin, or gang rape martin's sister, etc. all just stupid mindless chatter.
