Chop

Uhh, this is football, not basketball. It is a game of leverage. Low man wins most of the time. Quibbling over an inch or two of height on an edge rusher is just looking for some snivel and whine about.
Just smh
It really is unbelievable how many people think that doesn’t matter for an EDGE player.

Just smh at the lack of knowledge by some here

Football is also a game of leverage. Low man usually wins.
Did you need to repeat the same thing you already said?

Yes leverage matters but just bc you’re shorter doesn’t automatically result in you winning the leverage battle. Height matters for an EDGE.

Right

You offered no analysis just your hatred for the pick
How easy it that

You and no one else on this board know these players and what they’ll turn into bust or success

But just to put things into perspective. We lost our four pass rushers to injuries and FA. So I think the pick made some sort of sense
Duh
Bro I offered plenty of analysis.

The only analysis you need is to watch the Penn St/Michigan tape from last year.

Watch that film and then talk to me boss.

I fully understand picking an EDGE. My gripe isn’t about the position. It’s about the player period.

Speed kills. Doesn’t matter if the other DEs are more well rounded. The NFL is all about getting off the field on 3rd down, Chop has a good chance to be the best in that role in this entire class. Fantastic pick and much needed. If Chubb takes his helmet off again he can keep it off. Slow motherf*****, physically and mentally. Good thing he’s big and strong, because I bet Chop is already better than him off the edge before he plays a down. Ginkel was better than Chubb off the edge and he barely made 20M, that’s how slow Chubb is but at least he’s “well rounded”.
Chubb had as many sacks last season as Chop had in his entire collegiate career. Whatever Chop's measurables, he doesn't get QB's down.

Some of y’all could sale ice to an Eskimo. Some like the pick and some don’t. I hate the pick and that’s my right.

If I’m wrong then so be it… it won’t be the first time or the last. When we’re sitting here 2/3 years from now and dude has done nothing but consistently get hammered and pancaked by NFL OL then we’ll refer back to this thread.

Robinson is Vic Beasley made over. Beasley had one good year where he led the league in sack an like 2/3 years he was out the league completely. I know Vic very well bc as most of you know I’m a huge Clemson fan.

You don’t pick tweeners with 1st round picks and you especially don’t when theirs a guy that can play G or C and that’s a huge need for us. Barton would have been plug and play for 10 years. Instead we get this guy who has one thing… speed.

Nobody can consistently beat NFL OL with pure speed and know 2nd move or counter move. NFL OL will crush him over and over.

I’ve seen some here say Micah Parsons is the comp. Lol that’s a joke. This dude isn’t anywhere near that level and even if he did become that… the secret is out on Parsons. He struggles against the run and he disappears for huge stretches. What has Parsons done against any opponent that matters? Absolutely nothing and he’s been a no show in the playoffs. Dude is as overrated as it gets but bc he has a star on his helmet he gets the pub.

This dude will bust and he won’t be sticking around for a 2nd contract.

Another wasted pick by a GM who has no business making decisions like this. You can swing for the fences when your roster is KC/Philly/SF/Baltimore. You can afford to take chances with those rosters.

We don’t have that luxury. We needed immediate help now. Instead we get a guy who’s a rotational pass rusher at best but bc of injuries will have to be thrown in there right away and he will get crushed.

I'm fine with Robinson. Needs coaching but upside is positive. He's got the athletic ability and that 1st step he's got is legit. I see him as OLB and Pass rush specialist. He's going to be used right in his rookie season meaning i hope Phillips and Chubb can get healthy ASAP. Throw in Robinson into that rotation....seriously effective.

Chubb had as many sacks last season as Chop had in his entire collegiate career. Whatever Chop's measurables, he doesn't get QB's down.
Yea he’s 21 and Chubb is in what his 6th NFL season making how much money? He should be a lot better but he’s not. Chop is WAY faster, the sacks will come.

SPOILER: In the 2nd half Michigan just stopped trying to throw all together bc they couldn't block.

I dont pay much attention to college stats. They are not the be all and end all. Robinson has been compared to Byron Young by experts.
Cameron Wake? Penn State? I remember him. 😉 Wake finished his collegiate career with 8.5 quarterback sacks. Robinson can bloom. He's got the tools.

Show me a mock draft where 6 QBs went top 12 plus 7 WRs and 8 OL were drafted in the 1st. The reality is teams valued the offensive players over the defensive players in round 1 yesterday. And that hype around the offensive guys had been growing the past few weeks. I firmly believe Robinson could have slid to round 2, along with Newton, simply because teams were all over the best OL/WR prospects.

I want Robinson to succeed in Miami. But he was the clear 4th EDGE player. His game is a level behind Turner, Latu and Verse and he will need time to develop.
He was the 4th edge player in all of those mocks too. They had us taking Latu but he wasn't there. Obviously the whole league is prioritizing pass rushers over any other defensive position. The kid from Missouri was a first rounder in a lot of those too. And the feeling around Chop is that he could be the best Edge in this draft. Even Verse isn't unanimously thought of that highly.

I don't know much about him but I'm rolling with the flow on here. He could turn out to be a pro bowler with us. :woot:

It really is unbelievable how many people think that doesn’t matter for an EDGE player.

Cam Wake was same height and just 9lbs heavier that Robinson...... how did that work out? Not seeing your point. You can't stereotype players at positions.

How did guys like Freeney and Dumervil ever make it? Even Von Miller was the same height as Chop.
