Chris Clemons- A Must Sign?

Well Clemons plays a position where his weaknesses aren't exposed as much as Misi's would be. We definitely need better play in the middle of the field though.

I'm hoping that our pass rush improves and is more consistent, and the play of Ellerbe, Wheeler, and Jones gets back to a year ago. Not a lot to ask for.

Clemons would be a decent resign at a team friendly 2-3yr deal. He's not worth over paying that's for sure. I would honestly like to draft a FS early, even at 19 if Dix was still on the board it would be hard to pass up on that.
Regardless, maybe try to entice him into another 1yr deal [i doubt] just to let the rookie develop. Either way, I can see us drafting a S early on day 2 worst case given Hickey's affinity for DB's (i.e Barron, bringing in Revis and Goldson and drafting Banks etc)

this.

Wheeler needs to be cut or sent to Special Teams. Hopefully the new coach and help teach him how to tackle and play coverage

Well Jones play was the same imo. He's always taken bad angles, is often out of position, and cant play man coverage. That was largely overshadowed by a few good plays last year, but he's still the same player imo.

Ellerbe could play better, I doubt Wheeler does. Its going to be interesting to see how Hickey handles these 3 terrible contracts the Ireland handed out last year. I'd like to see Hickey make a statement by cutting one of these thieves.

In the situation we're currently in, yes he's a must sign. We have way too many open spots to fill to get rid of another one of our leaders...

Ireland made a mistake by signing Jones long term instead of Clemons. Clemons has been the better player out of the 2 every single year.

While I agree that Jones was WAY overrated universally in 2012, he was noticeably worse in 2013, in my opinion.
