Chris Perkins: Dolphins headed for mediocrity in 2025 before 2026 rebuild

So you blame Grier for the past 25 years? As a scout? Do you also give Grier credit when he was a scout for the Patriots and they went to the Super Bowl?

I agree that Grier needs to be fired, but blaming him for the past 25 years doesn’t seem reasonable and is in line with believing in curses and old Indian burial grounds. Lol
Chris Grier, one way of the other, has been in this organization the entire time since they last won a playoff game. One way or the other, he is a part of it.

But okay ... Ill play along. Ill just take his 9 (going on 10) yrs as GM. Heres some stats for ya.

Currently in the NFL ... excluding Jerry Jones who is also a team owner, there are currently at least 9 GMs in the NFL that have been with their respective teams for at least 10 yrs.
- 8 out of the 9 have at least 3 division titles
- 8 out of the 9 have at least 5 playoff wins
- 7 out of the 9 have at least 1 SB appearance
- 6 out of the 9 have at least 1 SB Title
- 2 out of the 9 have at least 2 SB Titles

Chris Grier is the only GM that has NONE of that. No SB appearances, Titles, Division Titles, and not one single playoff win on his resume, and yet he continues to keep his job in this organization. He absolutely deserves a HEAVY BRUNT of the blame for our playoff win drought. He has committed GM MALPRACTICE but giving injury prone Tua a huge contract for doing nothing, while also not improving the OLine at all over the last 5 yrs, while simultaneously GASLIGHTING the Miami fanbase and media with his arrogance two years ago - "I think you guys are more worried about the OLine than we are". THE GAUL OF THIS POS!!!

Chris Grier ****ING SUCKS at his job, and the fact that this POISON is still in this organization after 24 yrs is truly disgraceful. Remember, during his beginning years with us, he was a scout and personnel man that recommended talent to bring in. Look at the last 24 years (preferably his "pre-GM years" of 2001-2015) ... did we bring in a lot of "great talent" during those years?

He is the "Marvin Lewis of GMs" in the NFL. How much longer is this guy gonna keep his job, without winning a single playoff game? Im at the point now, where I would literally be okay with a 3-6 win season this year, if it means he is finally fired. I think McDaniel is honestly gonna be fired this season to ... maybe even by mid-season, since Ross likes to fire his HCs in their 4th year (Sparano, Philbin). The only way I will accept McDaniel firing is if Grier goes with him. If McDaniel is fired, and Grier stays ... I WILL ****ING LOSE IT!!!

Good post man. But honestly let me just say... dont even waste your time or energy with that clown, or any of them really. Guaranteed he comes back with the garbage to defend grier... its pointless with those guys.

How anyone could defend Grier IN ANY FASHION right now, is beyond me. 10 yrs as GM, and he hasnt accomplished anything, while insulting the fanbase. This guy has had a "10 yr leash" to build a winner , which included not one, BUT TWO Head Coaching hires. Do people really want him to be a part of another HC hire if McDaniel is fired, and he stays ... AGAIN?!

Its honestly DISGRACEFUL and absolutely DEPLORABLE this man is still employed with us. I honestly think, "slow healing" to the Dolphins will finally begin once this guy is finally shown the door. Jeff Ireland was an awful GM ... Mike Tanne"BUM" was a clueless ****tard of a GM with us ... but Grier is the WORST in my eyes, mainly for how hes been able to keep his job FOR THIS LONG without accomplishing anything.

Tired of the excuses. It's time for McDaniel, Tua and the Dolphins to prove people, such as Chris Perkins, wrong. 2025 is put up or shut up time.

Tired of perpetual whining. It's time for fans to prove they have enough current perspective to acknowledge this teams' improvements and successes.

The bait is thrown; now is the time to let those "who cannot see" react with the vengeance of unstable vegetables. - LOL

Been a fan for over 35 years but I don't get paid for my Fandom. McDaniel & Tua do get paid to do their jobs. If the end result is not winning playoff games and eventually a Super Bowl then IMO they aren't getting the job done.

What is this improvement you speak of? In 2022 they played a tight playoff game in Buffalo with Skylar Thompson at QB. In 2023 after choking the division away they were a no show in the playoff game in Kansas City with Tua starting the entire game. In 2024 they missed the playoffs. Looks like clear regression to me.

As much as I think tua is a good QB, Herbert was the correct choice or at least a trade down for love....

If tua wasn't injury prone this wouldn't sting as much but id rather have Herbert regardless

I agree brother. But for whatever reason they will fight you tooth and nail to spin some positivity about him.

If you watched the games ( which I assume most on this forum have) followed the Dolphins the past 20 plus years ( perhaps many have) you might see a common theme here. Head coaches even successful ones for the Dolphins the first couple of years tend to fade by year 3 years plus unfortunately. Remember the wildcat and Tony Sporano, Jay Aljayi and Adam Gase coaches that were the toast of Dolphins only to fail because they were incapable of growing and adapting as head coaches. Unfortunately McDaniel showed that last year. I was hopeful but McDaniel had the identical issues of not getting in his offensive plays in on time, making bad challenges, time outs were questionable and not making modifications after halftime for the offense. Take into account he kept a bad special teams coach around for 3 years the writing is pretty much on the wall. Can McDaniel make the jump this year in these areas sure but the odds are he will not especially with a less talented team. IMO the defense which has churned defensive coordinators every year carried the team as much or more than our offense since the middle of 2023 with Vic Fangio and last year with Weaver. In reality a larger question is even if McDaniel can figure out his offense is he capable of coaching the defense as the head coach?

1) Hobbies usually do cost money and time.

2) Getting to the playoffs in the first place!

Yes, I do realize there are some posters here who will actually try and "write that one off". There is no accounting for taste - or lack thereof. - LOL

However they did not make the playoffs last year which was a step back IMO. You can say they did not because Tua missed 6 games. They did however play against the easiest schedule in the league.

We will see if Tua can stay healthy for a full season in 2025 and if McDaniel can take the team back to the playoffs.

Agreed about the perpetual whining. Last time I checked Miami wasn’t filled with vineyards, yet….🤣. We should be able to recognize areas of improvement, areas of decline and areas of opportunity. That’s why every season is fun.

Ray you have been a fan of the team since 2016…in those 9 years you’ve seen 3 playoff games, which was more than the previous 16 years combined. Some of us have a lifetime of misery of watching this team fail over and over…I’ve witnessed 6 playoff victories and one single trip to the AFC championship game, which I got to watch live as the Bills wrecked us. I never got to see Mario’s glory years of 84-86, never got to see the 72-73 teams when we were the best team on earth…95 percent of my life the Dolphins have been a joke.

I used to be the most aqua glassed person on this forum, I went in every season naively believing we had a real shot, even in 2007 and the 1-15 year. But they have broke me man, now I’m a believe it when I see it guy, and that’s because of this team.

You seem to only want to focus on the positive and I can respect that I was there once, but you also can’t tell fans who have suffered FAR longer than you and without any success at all to sustain them that you they shouldn’t whine and complain. It’s our job as fans to hold these guys to a higher standard and demand excellence, they have gotten tens of thousands of my money over the years and I’m sure a lot of other posters have spent similar, so I will continue to call them out when they do stupid ****.

It all points back to Grier and his poor roster management. No viable backup QB for Tua who always gets hurt cost us 22 and 24. Going all in, trading all those picks for Chubb, Ramsey, Hill with a shoddy o-line. Now the secondary is in shambles because of bad signings, bad draft picks, and over paying past their prime DBs.

Where do I begin? - LOL

True, we missed the playoffs last year - not only because Tua was out for 6 games, but because many, if not most, of our better players were injured and off the field, particularly near the end of the season. We even had one player who refused to play! I guess you just missed that information. - LOL

When your team is so badly "decomposed", it makes the schedule look soft, but only for those other teams that played against us. - LOL
