Chris Perkins: Dolphins headed for mediocrity in 2025 before 2026 rebuild

Agreed about the perpetual whining. Last time I checked Miami wasn’t filled with vineyards, yet….🤣. We should be able to recognize areas of improvement, areas of decline and areas of opportunity. That’s why every season is fun.

Now that describes a "real fan"!

Ray you have been a fan of the team since 2016…in those 9 years you’ve seen 3 playoff games, which was more than the previous 16 years combined. Some of us have a lifetime of misery of watching this team fail over and over…I’ve witnessed 6 playoff victories and one single trip to the AFC championship game, which I got to watch live as the Bills wrecked us. I never got to see Mario’s glory years of 84-86, never got to see the 72-73 teams when we were the best team on earth…95 percent of my life the Dolphins have been a joke.

I used to be the most aqua glassed person on this forum, I went in every season naively believing we had a real shot, even in 2007 and the 1-15 year. But they have broke me man, now I’m a believe it when I see it guy, and that’s because of this team.

You seem to only want to focus on the positive and I can respect that I was there once, but you also can’t tell fans who have suffered FAR longer than you and without any success at all to sustain them that you they shouldn’t whine and complain. It’s our job as fans to hold these guys to a higher standard and demand excellence, they have gotten tens of thousands of my money over the years and I’m sure a lot of other posters have spent similar, so I will continue to call them out when they do stupid ****.

So, Ray is Right! - LOL

This is a 7-10 roster as currently constructed. The loss number could creep up once Ramsey, Hill, and/or Jonnu are traded and how many injuries affect the players who remain. I can only pray that after this season, Ross either blows up the entire football operation or sells the team outright -- like he should have done already this year.

Where do I begin? - LOL

True, we missed the playoffs last year - not only because Tua was out for 6 games, but because many, if not most, of our better players were injured and off the field, particularly near the end of the season. We even had one player who refused to play! I guess you just missed that information. - LOL

When your team is so badly "decomposed", it makes the schedule look soft, but only for those other teams that played against us. - LOL
Nope I didn't miss any of those excuses. As I said NO MORE EXCUSES. injuries happen every year in the NFL. Grier has been GM for almost a decade = 0 playoff wins. McDaniel is now going into year #4 so at this point you should expect the team to start showing they are a legit playoff team and not a team that crawls into a corner when they face adversity. PUT UP OR SHUT UP TIME for McDaniel, Tua & Grier. Once again and I will continue to repeat this no matter how many people get their panties in a bunch over it, NO MORE EXCUSES!

Keep digging. - LOL

McDaniel is going to keep digging that hole even deeper for him and Chris Grier if the team isn't successful in 2025. Do we want to strive to be like the current Chiefs & Eagles franchises or more like the Marvin Lewis era Bengals? Do we want to set the goal to win Super Bowls or be satisfied with just making the playoffs when almost 44% of the teams in the league do.

Chris Grier, one way of the other, has been in this organization the entire time since they last won a playoff game. One way or the other, he is a part of it.

But okay ... Ill play along. Ill just take his 9 (going on 10) yrs as GM. Heres some stats for ya.

Currently in the NFL ... excluding Jerry Jones who is also a team owner, there are currently at least 9 GMs in the NFL that have been with their respective teams for at least 10 yrs.
- 8 out of the 9 have at least 3 division titles
- 8 out of the 9 have at least 5 playoff wins
- 7 out of the 9 have at least 1 SB appearance
- 6 out of the 9 have at least 1 SB Title
- 2 out of the 9 have at least 2 SB Titles

Chris Grier is the only GM that has NONE of that. No SB appearances, Titles, Division Titles, and not one single playoff win on his resume, and yet he continues to keep his job in this organization. He absolutely deserves a HEAVY BRUNT of the blame for our playoff win drought. He has committed GM MALPRACTICE but giving injury prone Tua a huge contract for doing nothing, while also not improving the OLine at all over the last 5 yrs, while simultaneously GASLIGHTING the Miami fanbase and media with his arrogance two years ago - "I think you guys are more worried about the OLine than we are". THE GAUL OF THIS POS!!!

Chris Grier ****ING SUCKS at his job, and the fact that this POISON is still in this organization after 24 yrs is truly disgraceful. Remember, during his beginning years with us, he was a scout and personnel man that recommended talent to bring in. Look at the last 24 years (preferably his "pre-GM years" of 2001-2015) ... did we bring in a lot of "great talent" during those years?

He is the "Marvin Lewis of GMs" in the NFL. How much longer is this guy gonna keep his job, without winning a single playoff game? Im at the point now, where I would literally be okay with a 3-6 win season this year, if it means he is finally fired. I think McDaniel is honestly gonna be fired this season to ... maybe even by mid-season, since Ross likes to fire his HCs in their 4th year (Sparano, Philbin). The only way I will accept McDaniel firing is if Grier goes with him. If McDaniel is fired, and Grier stays ... I WILL ****ING LOSE IT!!!
So you no longer want to blame him for the past 25 years, but instead blame him for the past 9? Cool… me too.

You sure wrote a lot of crap to change your mind and agree with me in order to try and save face. lol

Good post man. But honestly let me just say... dont even waste your time or energy with that clown, or any of them really. Guaranteed he comes back with the garbage to defend grier... it’s pointless with those guys.
You have bad comprehension skills, huh? I wrote Grier needs to be fired. I’m not about to blame him for the last 25 yrs, however.

Also, are you attacking me? Are you going to now run over to the other board you’re at and cry about being attacked? Lmaoooo

As much as I think tua is a good QB, Herbert was the correct choice or at least a trade down for love....

If tua wasn't injury prone this wouldn't sting as much but id rather have Herbert regardless
Well, Herbert has been more available and still sucks. 😂

I’ve been a fan since 1979 when I was 5. I’ve seen 2 SB losses and Marino waste his talents because we couldn’t give him a defense or running game.

I’m still optimistic every offseason. The moment that ends is the moment I stop following the NFL.

Im always optimistic, even this year, but realistically I know we probably won’t be very good and I’m bracing myself for that. Do I hope I’m wrong and we win the Super Bowl? I would hope that would be the goal of every fan on this site, even at the expense of getting rid of this FO…give me the Super Bowl win any day of the week

Being optimistic doesn’t equal being realistic. I choose to look for the good things first, criticize the bad things last, and hope for the best. I’m realistic in that I don’t think we will win the SB. But, unless you’re a KC fan that’s a pretty good bet for most teams. However, do I think it’s impossible? Nope. Why? Because I’ve seen many teams make it to and even win the SB when they were said to be bottom feeders. Stranger things have happened than if the Dolphins make it to the SB.

Some here most definitely do not want the Dolphins to win. They’ve said as much.

I blame him for his ENTIRE INCOMPETENT TENURE with us ... his 15 "pre-GM years" where he was a scout/personnel man responsible for recommending talent ... and his 9 (going on 10) GM years with us where he was even more responsible for assembling a team, and has failed miserably.

I was just playing your stupid game by just doing his 9 GM years with us ... just to make you happy.
If you dont like the fact that Im blaming him for the ENTIRETY of his tenure with us , then kick rocks!

So do you blame the scouts we have now? Do you blame the GM’s before Grier? What about all the scouts over the last 25 years? Do you blame the lunch lady and janitors? Some of them have been around for years and years.

Ohhh… I know! Do you blame Ray Finkle? Lmaooo

Do you even know what you’re talking about or are you just handwringing and throwing a temper tantrum?

Dude, its not a coincidence that Chris Grier has been here THE ENTIRE TIME we havent won a playoff game. He is the only person currently in the front office that has been with the Phins here, LITERALLY, for a QUARTER OF A CENTURY. Hes been here longer, than Stephen Ross has been owner.

Yes, weve had bad GMs during that time, mainly Spielman, Ireland, and TanneBUM ... but Grier has been with ALL OF THEM. Even more insulting, is that his "GM tenure" ALONE has lasted longer than any of theirs, and he hasnt accomplished ANYTHING! Grier absolutely deserves a good brunt of the blame because he's been here the ENTIRE TIME ... hes THE ONLY ONE who has been here the entire time we havent won a playoff game, and while everyone has come and gone, HE HAS STAYED! Its not hard to understand.
