Coaches will limit Miami Dolphins rookie Dion Jordan for remainder of season

Im tired of defending this staff....this is news I did NOT want to hear. I figured it was due to some sort of injury that he didn't play much in TB game...for them to just come out and say he's not going to play heavy minutes is discouraging.

Quite frankly I'm more pissed about seeing Derrick Shleby sub for Wake so much. Has Wake always been subbed out this much? Just seems like we take our best defensive player, if he still is, off the field way too much. It makes me wonder if Wake is playing very hurt or something. Were they subbing him this much in the Cleveland and Indy games I do not remember.

Ive also wondered the same thing. If Ireland is pissed that Philbin refuses to play any of the rookies.
I don't even know if Ireland can be blamed because this staff refuses to utilize them. This staff is a joke.

Ireland....Draft and 3-4 olb...use the pick that could have been used on B. Albert to move up to get him

Philbin....Physical freak of a player who has the speed and ability to play multiple position, have a struggling LB core, won't give the number 3 pick a shot at OLB in place of Wheeler.

Are you kidding? I have no idea what this coaching staff thinks when it comes to football!:hsmash:

Despite trading up to draft Dion Jordan with the No. 3 overall pick, Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said Tuesday that Jordan will continue to see limited action this season.
Jordan appeared in just nine snaps — or 14 percent of Miami’s defensive plays — in Monday’s 22-19 loss to Tampa Bay. Even with the limited snaps, Jordan produced two hurries on six quarterback dropbacks. He also played on 66 percent of Miami’s special team snaps.
Tampa Bay is a run-heavy team, and Coyle said Jordan will continue to see action in passing situations only.
“Dion is not going to be in there where teams are slugging it out running the football,” Coyle said. “This team threw the ball 21 times in the game, and he was in there for half of them in the rotation that he’s playing in right now. If teams are going to be featuring certain personnel and running the football on first and second down, that’s not Dion’s strength at this point in his time here with us. That’s not going to change this season.”

Isn't that awesome that we moved up to #3 to draft a part time player??

Ozzy rules!!

I can't say I disagree with Coyle. They see him everyday in practice and he apparently isn't strong enough against the run as a DE at this point in his career. Hopefully he gets better, like JTaylor did.

Means nothing if youre a bad coach, and these guys are certianly bad coaches.

I agree with it. If the season's lost then why risk injury for meaningless games.

This staff is a fail.

Sherman said he was surprised by Matthews because he never does that in practice.

Dumb coaches be dumb.

WoW did he say that? In the limited snaps this kid had prior to Monday Night he always caught the ball, in traffic, behind him, to high, on the sideline etc....If i remember right he made some tough catches in one of our earlier victories, think it was the last drive in Cleveland.....instead of finding ways to get him on the field earlier he only gets the chance because of injury.....our coaches are blind....

Do you guys watch the games or go by draft status. Zero in on Jordan's edge rushes. Slow off the ball, starts to the outside and never makes it, tries to come back in and shed blocker which he never does. Has made an impact on freee rushes but so has Phillip Wheeler.

Beat the bigger stronger John Martin in practice but coaches know he sucks even though they decided to start the season with him at LT LOL.

So it's either: 1) He sucks at the run game and is only good part-time in the pass rush, which means we completely over-reached in moving up to 3rd to get an "occasional" role player; or 2) They are completely wrong about his abilities and are mis-managing his role on our defense (and wasting the 3rd pick in the draft). In either scenario, they are either stupid or incompetent . . . . . ???

Not to sound like a dumbass but why trade up for Jordan then?

Basically has sat the entire season or wasted away on special teams.

At this rate we would of been better of this season taking Lane Johnson.

I think this just indicative of Philbin/Sherman in general. They don't want to play rookies or second year guys unless they absolutely have to. Think about it. Jordan/davis/taylor/matthews. They put experience with less talent over more-talented with less experience. Almost every time. Tannehill knew the system so he was way ahead of Matt Moore in that sense. Jonathan Martin last year was by necessity, I don't think they were enthralled with the idea. I think its why Daniel Thomas gets so much play with Lamar Miller being pulled.

I can't say I disagree with Coyle. They see him everyday in practice and he apparently isn't strong enough against the run as a DE at this point in his career. Hopefully he gets better, like JTaylor did.

Then why draft him so high?....you don't take a project at #3 and according the the staff, that's what he is at this point.

Ozzy rules!!
