Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

I think he is going to find out what Cook found it, RB's aren't that valuable. He's going to have trouble to find a team, especially at this point in the season, willing to meet his financial demands and the Colts' trade demands. In about 2 weeks, we will heard they made up and he is happy to be in Indy and Indy is glad to have him as a part of the team. There might be some restructure of his contract to make it look like he is getting more money.

here's why I don’t think the Taylor trade won’t happen for us.......we have our top player on defense holding out for a bigger deal/extension so imagine us trading for Taylor and having to give him a big contract while Wilkins continues to wait......that'd not go well with Wilkins nor his teammates. Then on top of it, you have 6 RB's that have been working hard all the off season and you're now telling them that 3 of them are off the team and the other 3 won’t get to play much.......trust me, I love Taylor but you have to consider what a move like this could do to a locker room that is so close......on top of that Indy wants a 1st round pick and we have other players that are going to get paid besides Wilkins. Last thing we need is yet another big contract and less picks.

I agree. He was originally a 2nd round pick. Our second next two years, Mostert and C Wilson. Do the deal Grier.
I don't want to do the deal.

My philosophy is that no RB is worth 15m per in terms of productivity value. There are better ways to spend that money.

As evidence, I would point to the vast majority of Championship teams under today's set of rules.

It's preposterous to think otherwise. The GM is who sends the pick in. Pretty common knowledge.
But he doesn't make the decision in a vacuum, and he may not even agree with the pick if he is trying to satisfy the HC.

To believe otherwise is also preposterous.

The buck stops with him, sure, but he isn't the one breaking down film, doing detailed analysis, etc.

It isn't as black and white as many purport. I know a smart character like you realizes the reality of the mechanics. If you don't like Grier, that's fine. He hasn't done much in terms of winning playoff games, division titles, etc.

I just think some ppl misrepresent how these decisions are actually made.

Sure thing Ray....

Pre McCaffrey, SF averaged 20.7 ppg (20th) and with Christian they scored 30.5 ppg (2nd best).

They were 3-4 before, and 7-0 after.

Went from 13th to 5th in Yards per game.

One player, improved the entire offense drastically. Everyone in SF is collectively saying FUGG THEM PICKS.

True.

Those players original teams either felt they were no longer worth their salaries or were unable to still afford them. It will be interesting to see how much they have left in the tank. Those skill levels don't fall off the cliff, but they do decline and at some point, they won't be worth the money.

In the end it's a craps shoot, and for a developing team like our Dolphins, it's not worth the risk in time or money - just my opinion.

Sorry you’re just wrong. Until McD got here Grier’s authority was secondary to the HC and the owner. It’s why we ended up with Flo, Sporano, Gase, Philbin, Camerona and guys like Igbo and Suh. That wasn’t Grier. Now it’s an inclusive approach with the owner as the wallet and not making football decisions. Thank God.

It's pretty well documented that Grier has bent over backward to get his HC the players they wanted. If Flores said he wanted Igbinoghene, and Grier said "okay," and picked Igbinoghene...the coach isn't at all accountable?

It’s no longer in question, Igbo was 100% Flo’s pick.
