Based on the past, and decisions being made now, are you in favor of firing Ireland now or keeping him through the end of the season? I refer directly to the surprising decision to let McKinnie out of the second year of his contract in the middle of the season, and not seeming to be pushing to re-sign Brent Grimes. I'm very concerned that Ireland would purposely make or not make moves during the season that would be harmful to next seasons team if he feels(as I do) that he's a lame duck GM.

No GM would purposely, or through general apathy make or not make moves like that. They are no different than players in the regard that they would only be ensuring that they will not get another job somewhere else. I am not his greatest fan but he is certainly smarter than that.

Fair enough, and I hope your right and I hope we don't regret keeping him. I just can't make sense of voiding McKinnie and not using some of the cap space we still have this year to re-sign Grimes and keep him here. I don't see Ireland waking up tomorrow and cutting Wake or anything like that. But I wonder why he seems willing to let those guys hit the open market. Without Grimes this D would not nearly be the same. And McKinnie isn't great, but hes solid. And without him, we will need 4 new starters on the oline. 5 if the Pouncey thing goes catastrophic, I don't think it will, but with our luck....

Your point? Its a different question regarding a different topic about him. Should no one mention Ireland on this forum? Will it upset you?

My point is simple. It's like I wake up every day to Sonny and Cher, come on here, and see a thread about if or if not Ireland should be fired. The arguments are the same, by the same people. Ned the Head, Needlenose Ned, Ned Ryerson can see that.

Watch the first step...it's a doozie.

Brent Grimes better be a Dolphin next year. I will lose my **** if hes not back.

Where is the "fire him 3 years ago" option?

I will give you credit....great movie. I can't skip that movie, no matter the time of day, day of the week, if I see it I'm stuck. Like Cartman hearing the first verse of Come Sail Away.

The weather? Its gonna be cold and gray and it will last for the rest of your life.

Kinda like being a Dolphin fan since the 86 AFC championship game. I still have nightmares of Fred Marion or Ronnie Lippett I believe signaling "no good" in front of the kicker.

I predict Jeff Ireland is never more than a head of scouting ever again anyway, just based on his own public quotes. And deep down, unless Parcells gets hired again.....I think he knows it.

My guess would be that Mckinnie's 2014 contract was voided in order to take the additional 1M cap hit this year instead of next. Also, I would guess that Ross has Ireland on a very short leash when it comes to any contracts beyond this season.

Irish "didn't let" McKinnie out of his contract in the middle of the season. it was part of the initial trade and voiding a 6.3 million one year deal (next years salary) is a smart move. If the fins want to sign mckinnie next year they can get him cheaper than that.

Mea culpa

I was not aware, I thought the hit next year was about 4 mil, which wouldn't be bad for a stopgap left tackle.

Actually IM almost certain Grimes says he wants to finish the season HEALTHY before he thinks about contracts because he signed a cheapy "show me contract" with us,
