Concern over Ireland finishing the year

Fire Ireland?

as far as Ireland being re-hired or fired, he won't get fired until the end of the end of the season if the Dolphins tank or The Ted Wells shows incriminating evidence that he is indeed a complete douchebag

I don't mind Ireland threads what I mind are the people who say they want to get rid of Ireland but fail to name his replacement. Don't tell me you want him gone and replaced but can't say with who. As for me, I really don't care if he is replaced as long as it is with someone better, but I can say that the GM isn't as bad as the coaching staff. We have much more talent than our record. No way we should have lost at home after a bye week to the bills. We gave away the bucs and panthers game. If the GM is gone the coaches HAVE to go with him. We have better than average talent, but no our record isn't going to show it.

^^ bingo!

If we can get a clear upgrade at ANY spot in the organization i'm all for it. But to simply replace someone just for the sake of replacing someone is just bad buisness.

Your point? Its a different question regarding a different topic about him. Should no one mention Ireland on this forum? Will it upset you?

No, actually it's the same ****, another day.

I'll no doubt get some thumbs down for this, and that's ok; but i'd go ahead and let him go now and make Brian Gaine the interim GM, and once our season's over, go from there.

Not going to give you a thumbs down but I would like to point out that your plan is to simply have no plan other than cut irish at all costs. Again have a plan in place or expect another decade of pure fail.

How many people on forum sites are going to know who would make a good GM? Thats what we have CEO's and owners for. I think they made a good choice with the coach, now go out and make a good choice with GM. Howabout asking Philbin who he thinks he can work well with and who he trusts to get him guys he can use in his system?

And a 2 year-6.3 million dollar contract would not mean the savings is 6.3 mil, depending on how structured it would be closer to 3 or 4 million for the second year. So I go back to my original complaint, letting go of a decent stopgap starter when your going to be looking for 3 starters already based on a 4 mil contract seems dumb to me.

And it was mentioned that Grimes doesnt want to sign a prove-it deal. I'm not suggesting he should, I'm saying pay the man for f's sake. Why has that not been done already? Reward your players that play at a high level.

Irish "didn't let" McKinnie out of his contract in the middle of the season. it was part of the initial trade and voiding a 6.3 million one year deal (next years salary) is a smart move. If the fins want to sign mckinnie next year they can get him cheaper than that.

wait, you mean ireland/Aponte may actually be doing something that benefits the dolphins? Thats not what we are hearing from.....from....I dont know who.

who is brian Gaine? Who was he before he came here? How much experience does he have being a GM? Did he work closely with someone who did?

I would rather still keep the guy I know can score a stud future DE in Jordan and never getting a bust in 1st round than take your chances on what you dont know. Visions of Randy Mueller and Cam Cameron and a 180 pound WR and his family.

Just because people may or maynot know who would be an upgrade or a downgrade should NOT stop them from at least presenting an idea on how upgrade the position. Then we can at least debate on some sort of history or projection.

Whats lost in all of this is what will happen if/when irish is replaced. The new GM more likely than not will want his own players. it will more than likely mean yet another rebuild. Right now the one glaring weakness I see on the team is the Oline and even thats showing sings of life. If we are going to replace irish I want to know with who before I give a thumbs up or thumbs down.

As bad as some people think irish is hes a whole lot better than what we had prior to him. I would have to go all the way back to maybe JJ to find a better fins GM. So be careful what you wish for. Things could be a WHOLE LOT worse.

I for one dont want to fire Irish w/o knowing who we will replace him with. Replacing a Gm is NOT like replacing the cashier at McDonalds.

In other threads on the subject we have had names brought up. So it made for an educated discussion. I also would like to point out the names that were brought up over the last several years have a track record far worse than Irish does.

What I would like to see is someone place ABOVE irish that oversees the entire football side.

Yeah, the "fail to name his replacement" argument is nonsense. If you have a **** employee, do you keep him just because you don't know his replacement yet? Isn't that what the whole hiring process is for? Hardly an excuse to keep him around, but nice try.

Why fire him now?....the trade deadline has come and gone. They can hire a new GM in January before the Combines in Indy, which I believe is in Feb. Or March. I think the draft us now in May. Do it after the season.

30% of people approve of Irelands job performance? If both Bush and Obama can get re-elected, I shouldn't be surprised by the idiocy of a large number of people in this country.

When the team wins and the players that are UNDER Contract, and were drafted or signed by Ireland do well, all of that would be different if we had a different GM.

I would not get rid of Ireland unless we could clearly get a better GM, which is not anywhere near as easy as the riot squad would have you believe.

I can't help but think of how much better this team would have been if Keller and the slot WR do not both get injured and if Martin doesn't become a sashaying, promenading eunuch in mid season
