Cortland Finnegan rated among worst FA moves

Let me guess, the same article slobs on the Pats knob for paying an over-rated suspended corner with a drug problem more money, right?

Hickey has always been a big fan of him, tried to get him in TB.

My biggest issue with this is why did we have to give him a 2 year 11 mill deal? No one was going to give him that, I'd assume he sees next to nothing until he makes the roster, but still, we havnt even brought in another cb as insurance yet, and we need one.

I'd assume hickey really believes the injuries were the problem. But fisher loves cortland, and I'd assume if he thought the injuries were the problem, he would be back with fisher.

Just have to wait and see. Been waiting on those contract details.

Finnegan could have a great career as an agent after his playing days are over. How he convinced Miami he was worthy of anything other than a 1yr, low salary prove it type deal is baffling.

I dont see the hate in the signing. You get a MOTIVATED former TOP TEIR corner ohh an injury year at a extremely low cost. What is bad about that? If he gets back to what he was its a win. If he doesn't so be it. It cost you pennies. Let's see what the guy can do. I for one think he has some gas in the tank AND he brings a missing nastyness that this secondary needed.
Some of you are so funny with the bashing of the guy and how he talks o the field and how you dont like that type of swag..... BUt you will be the same guy to say you liked Patrick Surtain... year remember his confedience? I LOVED IT>

Maybe my eyes tricked me, but Patterson looked really impressive last year when he played.

He was great but he only played in 6 games and hasn't played a full season since 2010. Patterson has never had a complete season of playing at a high level like finnegan has. Dimitri Patterson has had 6 games playing at top tier level, finnegan has had about 3-4 years. They are both the same age. Who would you rather have? Finnegan has also had 70+ tackles in 6 of his 8 years. He's also versatile and can play both safety positions.

It is a prove it deal. Revis pretty much sign a 1 year 12 million contract however the actual contract is a 2 year 30 million deal. Revis contract jumps up to 20 million next season but it's essentially a club option to keep him. Finnegan got the same type of contract where most if not all of te guaranteed money is this year and can be cut for essentially nothing if the team doesn't want to pay him next year.

You know somebody should mention we drafted 2 db's last season, so the move to bring in a vet actually means we have good depth at the position. We do still have davis and taylor going into their second year.

i finally agree with JUNC.. good job junc... i'd take finnegan over nolan caroll any day

Well it's time our two rookie corners play or gtfo. I'm ok with the Finnegan pick but jeez, how many more corners will we need. Draft LBers.

well rumors are having it that the deal only has $2m in guaranteed $. if he plays well he gets $11m, but if not no skin off Miami's nose.

I'd also bet he doesmt get any of that unless he makes the roster.

In any case, we still need another cb.

I wouldn't mind them resigning Patterson to a deal like they signed Finnegan. When healthy, I have more confidence in Patterson playing well than Finnegan ATM. Between those two and the two second year guys, hopefully they can get two or three to play well and stay healthy. I think Taylor should be the guy to step up though. Being able to go through the full off season and camps should help him the most since he missed it all last year.

Why are people hating on this move like that? I personally love it. I feel like he compliments Grimes perfectly. We needed a vet to help groom these young guns in Taylor and Davis. If he can provide that kind of leadership while Taylor eases in then its perfect.
Are people forgetting that he was HURT?? This guy was a physical beast out there when healthy. He wants to be here look for him to have a bounce back year. If he is atrocious and not able to stay healthy then you cut him.

I think Hickey just isn't comfortable with Taylor yet but knows he's the guy next. Finnegan is nothing more than a veteran insurance policy.
