Could Vontae Davis be as good as Revis?

That is a much less crazy statement than Davis will be as good as Revis.

You think so?

Revis had a great year, Davis has shown to be getting better every year, and already can be thought of as more physical, and better in run support then Revis, Wilson to this point is working on what he did in college, and the thought he was the 2nd best Corner coming out.

Revis had an all-time great year and Davis was a rookie last year! he hasn't had the chance to show he has improved yet.

Revis is excellent against the run. He had 47 tackles and 7 assists and as a D we faced 420 rush attempts, Davis had 45 & 4 for a D that faced 435 rush attempts, as a rookie Revis had 74 tackles and 13 assists. Obviously it's hard to judge based on tackle #s but that gives us a good gauge that Davis isn't doing a much better job against the run.

Davis is a nice prospect coming off a rookie year, Wilson is a nice prospect entering his rookiw year and Revis is the best in the business. Wilson is alot closer to Davis than Davis is to revis.

Wilson has proven nothing yet....even in pre-season, while on the other hand Davis last year seemed to be getting better as the season went along, and this pre-season so far, he has looked even better then the corner that intercepted Brady twice last year, and put many huge hits on WRs and RBs.

There is no denying that Revis right now is better then Davis, he has proven to be one of the premier shutdown corners in the NFL (As long as he is not going against Ginn ), but Davis does not just make tackles in the running game, he hits to the point where players will be hearing footsteps when catching the ball, or where they will be looking for him as they run with the ball.

If Davis manages to improve enough in coverage, where he is close to as good as Revis, because of how good he is in the other areas, many will have to consider him on the same level.

Wilson on the other hand is working hard just to not stink up the place, and at least look good enough to at least justify being drafted #1.

Revis is a great tackler, hes very physical with WRs and always wins the match up with his hands. What WRs always say is the thing you notice with Revis is how strong he is. Just saying Revis showed more his rookie season than Davis has. Davis could end up having a good career, but I HIGHLY doubt he'll ever have a year that can compare with Revis last season.

Kyle Wilson has looked very good so far, he hasn't been tested that much but he seems to have tight coverage on guys. He was close to a diving INT vs the Redskins and he had a sack on a blitz. Hes a hard worker and is a smart player, impressed the coaches with how vocal he is back there as a rookie. Hes going to be a stud in the league and I think if the JEts can get Revis locked up long term, they'll have a top CB tandem for years to come. I think Antonio Cromartie is a rental player, he'll out price the Jets IMO.

Wilson has been impressive in preseason so if you use preseason as a judge for Davis then why not for Wilson?

Davis hasn't done anything in this league yet either.

If Davis was hitting so hard that WRs were hearing footsteps how come they beat him so routinely last year?

I get that you are excited about his future and you should be, you should also place realistic expectations on him not unrealistic ones comparing him to Revis.
