Cowherd talks Manning, says Phins on cusp of being "elite"

i know i'm not making this up, and i also know 100% that this was reported. this year
now if you wanna ignore the facts about sanchez being garbage that's on you
but please don't accuse me of make something up.

do me a favor and find those "facts". It never happened, he took a few snaps away from him in pratice but said he would never put Brunell in.

I love when people make things up, at no point was he in danger of being replaced.

This is true, but only becasue Rex coddles (as the Jets own players like to say) him.

Sanchez should have, and probably would have been benched had the Jets had a real backup QB. With the playoffs on the line at 8-5, Sanchez stunk up the joint for 3 straight games.

[h=1]Rex Ryan almost benched Mark Sanchez[/h] Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 12, 2010, 9:12 PM EST
Rex Ryan said after Sunday’s disappointing loss that Mark Sanchez was hardly the Jets’ only problem. (That’s true.)
Then again, Ryan said he almost benched Sanchez for 40-year-old quarterback Mark Brunell. As our buddy Bob Glauber points out, Sanchez has thrown eight touchdowns with eleven interceptions in the last seven games. He also fumbled four times Sunday, and has nine fumbles for the season.
“I considered it, but when you look at it, I think he gives us the best chance to win,” Ryan said. “I thought about it and I was like, ‘Nah, it’s not the kid’s fault.’ He’s not the only one to blame here. If I thought that was the case, I would’ve yanked him.”

He had a good year for a rookie and capped it off w/ an excellent postseason

in 2010 he had a good year for any QB and capped it off w/ an excellent postseason

This year his #s were up across the board but he wasn't anywhere near as good as 2010. I expect he'll be more like '10 than '11 in '12.

Please tell me how a good year for a rookie is 53.8% completiton, 12 TD, 20 INT and 8 fumbles lol common man including a game against buffalo with 5 INTs where he literally was the reason they lost that game

First off that is 2010, we were discussing 2011 and he said that to motivate him which he acknowledged in his book. he was never benching him

He had 3 awful games that skewed his #s

vs. Buf
at NE
vs. NO

he threw 1 TD and 12 INTs, he played well more often than not but those games wer really bad and skewed his #s. he then played really well when it mattered most in postseason. He had a good year for a rookie.

Rex should have benched him when we were 8-2, having won 6 of 8 games and w/ him having thrown 21 TDs and 11 INTs to that point?

8-2? Who said anything about benching him at 8-2? Rex thought about benching Sanchez in 2010 after / during the Miami game. The Jets were 9-4 at that point and Sanchez was coming off 2 terrible performances. 17-33-164-0-3 against NE, and then 5-19-55-1-0 against Mia. The only reason he didn't get benched is because the Jets had no real backup QB. I don't believe Rex was ever going to bench him this year (He said as much in a press conference) but if the Jets had a decent back up, he should have. Not a 100% of the blame goes on Sanchez, but he deserves his fair share for his play down the stretch which cost the Jets a playoff spot.

You think he had an off year, but I really think we saw the real Sanchez without the help of a great D and running game.

Even the Homer in me can't justify a statement that we are on the "cusp" of being a superbowl team. Did not these people see the games this year..
Now a "healthy Peyton" would fill a huge need, but IMO we'd need more talent around him OL, TE, WR, Dependable RB to tandem with Bush, and a GM that recognizes weakness and has the ability to sign the appropriate players.

Honestly I see Peyton as a media and fan tease in which there is a lot of talk and in the end we are unable to sign him..
Also think it would be a poor decision for Peyton, especially if true contenders (like 49ers) get in the picture.

Think the QB position will end up with a candidate not in the picture now and one who will have to be developed, behind Moore, with a more realistic possibility of Flynn, if Philbin is willing to stake his HC career on him.........

Ya, I saw the Giants game that the Dolphins should have won if we had a decent coach or a decent QB. Of course the Dolphins are a SB contender with a healthy Peyton, WTH are you thinking???????????????????????

If Manning is healthy and we draft a QB this year to learn from him for 3 years, I would be on board.

ummm the fact is he did play those games, and you cant take them out, how can you say they skew them if it actually happened? common your getting desperate to defend this guy, just magically making 3 games dissapear, if you took the 3 worst game of any QB in any season and said they "skewed" the numbers every QB would look marginally better, take out Matt Moore's 3 worst games this season

if you take out both Jets games and the Giants game (his worst 3) 15 TDs 3 INTs

you can skew it any way you want to make yourself believe Sanchez will ever be a good QB

Good to hear some good recognition for once. I can't say I disagree with him BUT...for us to have any sort of success the same players who had success last year will have to repeat, at this point I'm not so sure that Bush can rush for over 1000 again. With that said I would love for him to prove me wrong.
I agree about Bush not rushing for 1000 yards again, its possible sure, but not likely. But he could be a 2000 all purpose yards type of player if utilized correctly and as a focal point.
