Daniel Thomas on the bubble?

Daniel Thomas needs to go. I would be all for Damien Williams especially if he can return kicks and we keep 4 RBs on the roster.

I think it is all dependent on Moreno. If Moreno can get healthy, I think Thomas is gone. Williams has been doing some good stuff in camp, and he is a possible returner as well. I think he makes the team. I don't think Gillislee makes it this year. I would have no problem moving on from Daniel Thomas. Our running game is going to struggle with or without him. He hasn't stepped up and I don't think he will. At this point, I would rather give Orleans Darkwa more of a look than Thomas. I have seen his name linked to more production in camp than Thomas.

UPDATED: After reading the tweets from practice today, it looks like Gillislee still has a chance of making this team.

Armando is openly speculating that Daniel Thomas' roster spot is in jeopardy and he facing stiff competition from Mike Gillislee and Damien Williams for the #3 RB spot.
We saw zilch from Gillislee last season, so it's good to hear that he's improved. I will be a lot happier when Knowshon is back to full health, but Miller is looking pretty good.

Yeah, no.

Miller and D. Thomas are locks to make the squad at RB.

Williams makes the squad over Gillislee.

Thigpen roster spot all depends on KR/PR duties.

Moreno roster spot, can he get healthy in time to show staff he should be on the squad?

I'm not jumping on the Gilli hype after a half decent scrimmage and 1 solid practice.

RB (4)

Miller
Moreno
D. Thomas
D. Williams

Danielle Thomas should not be on the bubble!!
That bubble should have bursted a long time ago!!
I have never seen a 230 pound man running full speed, get flung backwards by someone grabbing his shirt!
The guy has no place in the NFL he is a terrible football player.
If we was at UGA BAMA, hell even UF's ****ty team right now he WOULD NOT see the field. He would be the 4th rb at some of the better college programs right now!
I have no idea how he played relatively well at Kansas State

In the last 3 years(40 games) no player on the Dolphins has scored more TDs than Thomas's 11 which is the same number of TDs
Brian Hartline has scored in his 5 years(76 games)...just saying

He isn't as bad as you suggest. He won us the game in Pittsburgh with great individual effort and playing with injury. You might also be surprised that he contributed with a more TDs than Lamar last season (4 vs 2). Part of his problem was the poor performance by the O-line to give him (and Lamar) some decent holes to run through.

Thomas should be on bubble every year, what a horrible second round pick although Mark Ingram has been a horrible 1st round pick and many of us liked him.

Here's some stuff on DT from PFF for everyone to debate. They ranked him at #14 on running, based on watching every play and what he got from what was available. He was #29 on caused missed tackles, breaking a tackle or making a move. This was on 109 carries, with almost everyone above him having 50- 200 more carries, and was the same as Moreno with many more chances. He scored 4 TD's, which was #24. Again with all above having many more chances. He also caught 15 of 16 passes with 1 drop.

How do Phans not liking him answer? Was it from what you saw, what you thought you saw or, listening to another poster? I'm wide open to change my mind if someone can give me reason to. Hard to argue with the numbers.

Normally I'd say I love a good competetion for roster spots, but it's tough when it's more due to ineptitude. I have heard a few good things about Miller and gilleslee, but I have to say I was hoping for more of a "Moreno looks great, Miller looks better" sort of competition. Not Gillislie looks ok, DT looks like **** and Moreno is still in rehab.

Are you basing DT on some practice or, what he did last season in real games?

Just wondering what made you think this coaching staff had Gillislee on the outside lookin in?

People make judgements way too early. There is nothing here to even suggest Daniel Thomas wont make it.

Some reasons he wont go:

1) Philbin has always supported Thomas in the past and has given him credit when in competition last year with Miller.
2) He can run block better than Miller
3) He seems to make some big plays for us since he is unsuspecting
4) Bigger back. Who is bigger than he other than Clay as FB?

REasons he does:
1) Seems to be injured more lately although he played tough last year with his ankle sprain
2) He has sucked this camp
3) Gillislee can do anything he can but better running the rock. Or so it seems.
4) Moreno is a 10 TD RB last year, if he is healthy as Hayden Fox says, no need for Thomas no mo.

I'd like to see you do his job. What baffles me is people on this board more concerned with bashing the source of information than talking about the information itself. Grow up

I can guarantee I would do a better job than him.

1. One good game against Pitt does not negate a full two years of garbage play.

2. Not one of his TD's came from more than 5 yards out. Not hard to get into the end zone from the 2 yard line of you have even decent blocking for that play.

Thomas is what he always has been, complete garbage.

It is time to move on from Daniel Thomas. It is obvious by now that he is a below average running back. There will be guys that will be waived from other teams that will be at least as talented as him. Running back is one of the easiest positions to replace. I was actually surprised that the Dolphins did not draft a running back this year. They did, however, bring in a couple of free agent running backs after the draft and I would not be unhappy if one of them, Damien Williams, unseats Daniel Thomas for a roster spot. I am actually jealous of the Buffalo Bills because I think they made one of the best unheralded moves of the off-season by trading for Bryce Brown from the Eagles. I really like that kid's talent.

Bryce Brown looked unbelieveable subbing for McCoy two years ago, he just needed some refinement and to knock the fumbles.
