Daniel Thomas when getting 10+ carries...

People don't like to admit that after more than a decade of watching bad football, they have skewed views of what constitutes "pretty good."

It is strange that you want to cut a player that was "pretty good," though. Personally, I think our RB situation is pretty bad. We know Thomas sucks, we have no idea about Miller (though, by reading some threads, you'd think we have a pro bowler in him), and we have no idea if Moreno's one good year was legit or a product of a stellar passing offense or if he is healthy. Too many question marks for me.
I'm pretty sure Moreno befitted from Manning's offense. Who wouldn't? They have to stop the pass first which helps a running back's average, and he still was only a 4.1 yard per carry guy. For me the best hing about him was he could at least pick up blitzes, and hopefully help the other backs learn that a little better. The fact that he showed up out of shape makes me think that we won't get much more. I'm really hoping Miller has some kind of breakout year in this new offense, much like I am hoping for Tannehill. I'm not putting any money on either though.

Well I hope you do understand Lazor is going to like Thomas more than Miller. While Thomas may lack in some areas, he is good at cutbacks, zone reads, and hitting the backside of the flow of the offense. On top of that he's got pretty good routes for a RB and excellent hands. Better than Miller's. While Miller is a more explosive and home-run hitter, Lazor will start favoring Thomas. I don't have a preference, it is what it is.

I wonder if he likes Geos or Datsuns more?

It is what it is, a crappy situation. At least Moreno can block and play well in the passing game. I'd be pleasantly surprise if we can hit mediocre production out of the unit, though I wouldn't expect that to last considering how easily Thomas and Moreno break.

I can accept an argument that he is marginally better (than the also crap) Miller. .... But he ain't good

So as long as they have the words "Miami Dolphins" in their job description your a fan? The quality of the player and how he effects the team in negative ways has no bearing on your support? Im shocked that people on here feel that way. No, really, shocked.

I know I'm a dinosaur in my way of thinking, but in my mind a player or team doesn't have to be the best in the league or even in contention for a title or elite player status for me to root for them. In fact most of the players I really root the hardest for are the Thomas and Egnew type player that everybody else is always kicking. I like when a player comes through despite all the crap they take.

When I watch Hoosiers I get more joy out of seeing Ollie knock down his game winning free throw than I do from watch Jimmy hit the championship winning shot at the end of the movie.

Not only am I a fan and root for all the players wearing the uniform, I also tend to remain a fan after they leave... such as Ted Ginn. I always root for Ginn to play well and have a good game when he's not playing the Dolphins of course.

(I removed my soapbox tangent)

I genuinely don't understand what you mean when you just type the word "this". You do it regularly and I haven't a clue if it's a compliment or an insult.

It just means he agrees.

I hope Thomas impresses enough to be worth a High round pick around the trade deadline.

I'm thinking this is likely Thomas' last year with the Dolphins if he makes the 2014 roster. Next year there are several good running back prospects in the draft and Miami will likely select one if not two. No way on earth you get a high draft pick for Thomas, you would be lucky to get a sixth or seventh.

I'm sure it's modern way of saying I agree.

I think many of us on here thought it was a foregone conclusion that Thomas would be replaced if we drafted a young back. But since it didn't happen, he may eke out another year. You do not replace a guy just for the sake of it. Unless the upright Sooner back surprises to warrant something beyond a practice squad invite, Thomas may not get beaten out.

Miami may be able to go ahead and draft a rb early next year if things go as well as expected with our current roster and there aren't more pressing holes to plug.

That one against Pittsburgh was really good, but the one where he failed to get the first down against NO really sticks out. I think that really changed the momentum of that game and is more or the norm with Thomas where it just isnt good enough.

Daniel Thomas is actually good? Don't worry man, I've got your back in this thread.
