Danny Kanell defends Icognito, blames media for overhype

Like the man said players like Incog are a valued commodity in the nfl.

Like the man said players like Incog are a valued commodity in the nfl.

His value has rapidly decreased. Not only does he have his background haunting him but he has given up 6 sacks in 8 games. In all fairness he is a much better fit in man blocking but I expect the NFL will suspend him which furthers deflates his value.

Not sure how Incognio has shown such demand in NFL two teams before us just let him go. I think if we released both players more teams would be trying to sign Martin

If its the culture of the locker room and Tom, Chris, K. Johnson, Ditka, and the like know its the culture, they wont say its common place. They know its common place in all locker rooms. Pranks. Language. Paying. They are in the media now. They need to work. They wont say its normal because then they would be part of the problem. So they are hypocrites. If all or most the players on the team like Cog but one guy has a problem with Cog, maybe, just maybe Martin doesn't need to be around NFL players. Not use to being around "those" type guys. Most in the media want to say that there is no leadership from the players on the team. Please. If everyone acts the same, socially, why would anyone know that Martin had a problem with the language or pranks that went on? Martin went along with some pranks. How could anyone know that there was a problem if Martin did not say anything to anybody. Come on people. Think about it.

Yeah, I'll take the opinion of Danny Kanell over Tom Jackson, Cris Carter, and Bill Polian (two HOFers and one
potential HOFer).

So you want to let somebody's playing ability overshadow their character?

What a load of crap to blame the media for making a big deal out of blatant racism. Are you all suggesting it should be downplayed? Also can't believe Kanell pulled an "I've seen a few white guys use the N-word as a term of endearment, so now it's okay for all white guys to use it in any context". Some of the delusional fan reactions I've seen to this Martin episode are Penn State Riot-esque. Here's the transcript of the voicemail just so you guys know what you're defending.

"Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of s---. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s--- in your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F--- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

No one has heard this tape. However, in the TMZ video, you can clearly hear Incognito is not being racist in his use of the word "nigga". "My nigga, Mike Pouncey. My nigga, Mike Pouncey." Prior to Pouncey repeating "this is the best man at my wedding".. Endearing. Not hateful.

I choose not to use the word. I also find it ignorant and obnoxious when white people use it (with little hesitation). I'd call Incognito an idiot, I don't know if i'd go as far as calling him a racist.

Pouncey should have been horrified by cog's behavior rather than praising him as his best man. what a zoo.

I know many blacks, young and old who find the word vile and offensive. It doesn't matter what context it is used in.

JDAM !!!!

Here's a few questions no one has answered;
If Martin was so devistated by Cogs "bullying" and the indifference of the coaches, why did he wait until he got moved to quit ?
Then use the lunch time prank as the excuse ?
Why did he save that voicemail for 10 months ? (if there is one, has anyone actually heard it outside of Martins camp ?
Maybe becasue he suspected he was going to get cut and planned on sueing ?)

As we seeing, players get it. Former players, coaches and "journalists" are letting the $$$ do the talking. Don't beveleive me, watch some NFL network coverage. There's no "A Few Good Men" clips.

No kidding. I get uncomfortable when people talk like this. That isn't my argument, or Kannells. I was referring to the intent of the TMZ clip.

You've never been around a white guy who feels for whatever reason he's entitled to use "nigga" as a term of endearment? I notice people doing this every time I get my car serviced in Miami. A lot of Cuban people use the N word. Are we pretending no one says it? lol

I don't think they are all racist, just dopey.

Blame the music business and young black males who have wrongfully exploited a terrible word and as a result, it has become deeply ingrained in the hip hop culture.

all i know is that its bad when the "Monsters in the Morning" in Orlando are talking about Richie Incognito and what a bully he is...of course Drunky compared the locker room to any other work place environment which Joe Rose said it was 100% DIFFERENT from any other work environment about 5 minutes before...

the media is blowing this up...if kids bullying each other than adults doing it must be worse...

Why does it matter what anyone's opinion on this matter is?

People will give it merit because it aligns with their thinking while other will see it as bunk because it goes against their thinking....

if cog was a racist in his teammates eyes they would be outing him to the media....they are not...media just blowing this up into more than it is...

jon martins a wuss
