Deal of the century

I switched back to cable as well. The problem I had with the service was the poor reception during stormy weather which happens a lot in south Florida.
You get no credit for disruptive service. I complained to them and told them to install the biggest and baddest dish they have. They installed it, but it was only slightly better.
To top it all off, when I finally decided to sever the service after my contract was expired, I asked them up front what the final payment would be and when it would be due.
I paid the "Final" fee, and low and behold I got another bill after returning my equipment.
They threatened to put it into collections if I didn't pay. What a bunch of thieves. I paid the additional fee. They will never get another dollar from me.

The reception on the HDTV set up actually seems worse than it was years ago. I have had DirecTV on and off for years and usually have had good reception. However, it goes out during storms here in Texas, which aren't as bad as South Florida, IMO. Either way, I need to negotiate the price for the Ticket as I'm not paying retail but definitely want it.

I had a very simliar situation. They tried to charge me for recievers that I had already returned. That is very different and is inexcusable. My point was entirely about the issue of the price of NFL Ticket. But I agree with you 100%, those sort of issues makes them nearly as bad as big government.

I call every year and threaten to cancel if I can't get the ticket for free they usually budge, but this year they actually stood firm and I said fine shut my service off in 2 weeks, I was going to call back in a few days and not cancel but they didn't know that. The next day a rep called and gave me the ticket for free plus 30 dollars off my bill a month for a year. I now pay 60/month for cable with the ticket. I rule.

It costs a company more money to get new customers, they want to keep the ones they have.

Everybody's experience is different based on location/weather evidently, but I can't complain about DirecTV.

We got more rain over the past year than the few previous here in San Antonio, and my DirecTV didn't budge. I have had NO problems with their service whatsoever in the year+ I've had them. Had AT&T and TWC before that, and I can't say the same about their service. With TWC, RoadRunner always crashed. With AT&T, there were always cable interrupts. Now I'm on DirecTV with AT&T internet, and it rocks.

Still under contract so I gotta see what I can do about this year's subscription...I could pay it, but don't want to. Last year's sub was free as part of the promotion to join DirecTV. TWC is offering great new rates + cash/gift card if you have to pay a contract cancellation fee. Decent bargaining tool for me.

I have had a fantastic experience with Direct TV. The customer service I have gotten has always been top notch, except one time. I have been a customer since 1997.
Usually if you call and ask for a deal, they will work one for you. I ordered the MLB ticket this year, at 199$$$. They then discounted my bill 15$$ per month for 12 months. 15 times 12 = 180$$ off the bill, 199$$ for the MLB, = a total of 19$$ paid for the ticket. I generally do something similar with the NFL Ticket. You may have to call more than once to get what you want, but eventually there will be someone who will hook you up.

I thought the deal of the century was when Jimmy Johnson traded Herschel Walker to the Vikings :idk:

I can't understand why cable companies and the NFL won't get together and offer some type of pay-per-view system. I live in Eagles country; rarely are the Fins televised for a non-primetime game. Even though I do not want a dish, I'd never pay for Sunday Ticket... all I want is the Fins game each week. If I want to watch a second game, I'll just watch whichever game is on TV.

With cable, customers can see certain sporting events on a pay-per-view basis. They can watch movies on demand for a fee. There is no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to see Miami play every week on my HDTV (instead of on my laptop using a crappy bootleg site) for a fee.
Not sure how you think pay per view is going to be cheaper. Anything I've ordered on ppv has been expensive. Even if they only charged $20 a game, that's $320 per season for 1 team. I would love to see something like $99 for 1 team for the whole season, but that's $6 per game. I think the nfl values their product more than that.

I have to respectfully disagree bro on Directv. They all and all are the best I have dealt with. I know the Time Warner Cable out here has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. AT&T can be up and down.

I was with them for almost 4 years and will never deal with their ****ty equipment or service again.

You would think that DirecTV would value long time customers over brand new customers but they do just the opposite. After one year they raise your monthly fee by about 25-30%, and you pay more than a new customers. Something is wrong there.

When you first sign up, you get a complimentary offer for new customers. Your bill does not go up after the initial offer. Its goes to the regular price.

Do you understand what capitalism is?? In a free market society the market is SUPPOSED to set the price. If people stop paying $300 per year for NFL ticket the price will drop, if they keep paying it, it will remain the same or go up slightly. That isn't being greedy that is understanding 8th grade "supply and demand".

Does anyone have any idea how much it cost to send a satelite into space?? I've looked into sending my exwife up there to get her off this planet, and I can tell ya it isn't cheap. DirecTV has spent, not millions, but BILLIONS to retain exclusive NFL rights. DirecTV is doing EXACTLY what they are supposed to be doing, testing the free market. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to pay for NFL ticket like they are for say, health care. You have a right to buy it or not buy it. And they don't even hold a monopoly. If you don't want to pay the price, you can always go to your local bar every week.

If not for big companies taking big risk in gambling that society will repay them for advancing technologies none of us would even have the option of having such a opportunity of getting to see our favorite team play from the privacy and comfort of our own living rooms. I can't afford $300 per year for the Ticket, but I am thankful it is there.

You can get it for $199. Why is everyone saying $300? Its been reduced now already for two(2) seasons and is a bargain in my opinion.

Once your contract is up, YOU own the equipment. It belongs to you. I have 4 receivers in the basement as proof.
During your contract period the equipment belongs to them. Once its up it belongs to you.

Why do you think when you move, they leave the dish up at your old residence? They tell you to take the receiever with you to your new house.
They could care less about the equipment. It is the month fees that they care about.

I was with them for almost 4 years and will never deal with their ****ty equipment or service again.

What kind of TV service do you have now? I would never consider cable or Dish network. Direct blows both out of the water, every day, every time.
