Deshaun Watson mega thread

Let me be clear on this to everyone thinking I’m a Tua fan-boy. I’m not. He has a lot to work on this off-season. Could he be a bust? Yes. Could he be Steve Young 2.0? Yes. My point is we just don’t know right now.

As for DW.... I cannot and will not argue that he isn’t a top 10 QB in this league. He definitely is. Would he make the Dolphins better? Absolutely. My problem is why he wants out of Houston. That concerned me. Also, I’m concerned what it would cost to get him and what it would do to the re-building process of an up and coming team. Taking all of that into account..... I think we should just stick to the current path we’re on. But that’s just my opinion.
He is worth it. Look at who is still in the playoffs. All have elite QB play. We need to score lots of points to beat KC or Buffalo to make it to a superbowl this season. We only won 10 games because of the Defense creating turnovers, not because of our QB. Fitzpatrick played better with the same WR corps. I also feel the lefty spin messes with WR. Grab Watson and continue to rebuild. FA will come, no income tax, solid ownership and GM and a Coach of the Year candidate that players love. Make it happen Grier.

Yep. Trevor Lawrence meant Urban Meyer. I mentioned that early in the season when everyone was dismissive regarding the Jets getting Lawrence because they're such a dysfunctional franchise anyway. It seemed clear for two years that Meyer would pursue the NFL job attached to Trevor Lawrence. Meyer is no fool. He knows darn well he can build an NFL roster. But it would mean nothing without the quarterback. He saw Pete Carroll and Nick Saban enter the league without the quarterback. Carroll struck quickly with Russell Wilson while Saban whiffed. Meyer wanted the Pete Carroll-type NFL career but without the risk factor and uncertainty on entry. That's why he patiently waited for Lawrence to be draft eligible. If those late season outcomes had gone the other way, Meyer would have been destination New York and not Jacksonville.

Anyway, regarding the header of this thread nobody seems to understand the impact of Jack Easterby. As always, big picture. If you hire and maintain someone of that mindset high in the franchise then DeShaun Watson fully understands the roster means nothing and the major decisions are not going to work out. Players throughout the league are rooting for Watson to get out of there. It will be widespread jubilation if it happens. The competitive tilt of the league will be irrelevant compared to a widely admired great guy in his absolute prime escaping a horrible situation.
Bro the 2nd paragraph is on point. That is exactly what the problem is and the fact that the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Bob McNair Sr who passed away was literally caught in an owners meeting saying “We’re not going to let the inmates run the asylum”. If that was his mentality then you know his son was raised the exact same way.

So many people don’t take into consideration that this is DWs job. This is where he works. If any of us had a toxic work environment and was being constantly discriminated against we would want to get the hell out of there to. But somehow someway some fans have this twisted into thinking DWs the problem bc he don’t want to be treated like a commodity instead of a human being anymore. It’s DWs future on the line and Marcus Spears actually made that point this morning. It’s his future on the line so why shouldn’t he be allowed a day in it?

DW obviously cares about the money. But let’s be real who the hell would turn down 156 million? Nobody on this earth would. But from hanging out with DW on quite a few occasions and having friends that I’ve known since I was 7 that he still speaks with I know for a fact that winning/legacy trumps money for DW. He wants to go down as the greatest ever and what has Houston done to help him accomplish that? They traded away not only the best WR in football but also 1 of his best friends dating back to when they met at Clemson. Assembling a patchwork OL that has got him murdered every year since he’s been in the league. And an aging defense with a ton of overpaid guys that are crushing their cap to go along with the ridiculous decision to give Bill O Brien Gm duties and watch him trade away their future which just happened to turn out to be the #3 overall pick in a year where the best OL prospect to come out in years has declared for the draft and they would be sitting prime position to land him if not for basically giving away their #1 pick to us.

The list of things Houston has done to him and not done for him is endless. Like Max Kellerman said earlier today if anybody has a problem with DeShaun Watson... DESHAUN WATSON of all people then that’s a then problem not a DW problem.

hes the real deal I won’t argue that...this is one year too early for Miami though imo

tua should get 2021 then go from there
Depends on the compensation.
Personally I’m offering Tua, #18, Rd2 & 2022 Rd1. = 3 Rd 1s.
Value = Tua over Fields/ Wilson
I’m keeping 3 & 36.

Give me Watson.. maybe trade down couple spots and take Devonte & RB Rd2.

This team is NOT one Deshaun Watson away from the Super Bowl. Period.

Who the **** is he gonna throw to? Parker gets hurt watching McDonalds commercials. Besides him.....We don’t have 1 receiver that could get open in a good high school league.

Gesicki is decent.... But he only wins 1 out of every 5 snaps. We don’t need a great receiver or Tight end you say?

OK....Who the **** is gonna run the ****en ball? Gaskin weighs 190 and will be worn down by game 9. Other than that....Who else is NFL Caliber in the running back room?

How about that great OL we have? Oh wait..... They’re not that good it turns out. Yes....They’re young. But they weren’t that great. Should we **** can them too?

See where I’m going with this? We need a lot more than DW to challenge for the AFC Crown much less the AFC East.

I’ve said it before....Is DW better than Tua right now? Absolutely. Will he be better than Tua in 2 years? No one knows. That includes the Tua Haters and the Tua fan boys. Stay put. Use your draft picks and cap space to fill the holes on this team. Then you see what Tua has. It’s the only thing that makes sense in my book.
Ask yourself this. What do you think our record would’ve been this year with our exact same defense and 4800 passing yards and 33 passing TDS from the QB Instead of 3700 passing yards and 24 TDS From the QB. We might still be playing.

My opinion is that Watson is great right now and Tua isnt (yet). I hope Tua does well, nothing against him at all, just dont see the "it" factor that Watson has. Pick up Allen Robinson in FA and fill out the roster with whats left of your draft picks.

So what do we do in 2 years if Watson wants another trade and Tua is destroying the league in Houston? I mean..... Everyone is throwing “IF” around here. Why can’t I?

Again....Tua has had 9 games and no help. How could any rookie QB have the “IT” factor with those parameters?

I mean, they had the GOAT QB already, so that was never necessary. The whole point is getting an elite quarterback. After that, things get much easier.
We have a QB. Listen closely. WE ARE NOT GIVING UP OUR FUKING DRAFT, X AND 140M

Well, the Chiefs traded high picks and just spent 450 million on Pat Mahomes. I think they are in good shape For the foreseeable future. I also think we did well managing the cap, which is how we are in a position to easily afford Watson right now Without losing any stars, which we don’t currently have many of.
Another rocket scientist. Do you realize what we would have to give up to get him? This isn’t Monopoly with pretend $ and pretend picks. Not happening

What if, what if,
What if Gase turn into tbe best coach and Flo becomes Cameron 2.0

I don't play what if, I play what is.
DW is a top 5 qb, Tua is not.

I don’t think anyone realizes right now what picks or players we would have to give up to get him. I think our FO would have to determine what they would be willing to give up to get him, and not go beyond that point. The money part of it is not an issue at all.

What if...? If we know NOW what the QB is doing, why wait on another? Yes, Tua could light it up in HOU and may be even better than Watson, but it sure doesnt look like that now. We know Watson is elite, jury still out on Tua. If Fitz can move the offense better than Tua, imagine what Watson would do.

Tua Tagavailoa is more than likely never going to reach DWs level. Bet on the sure thing in DW. He’s not going to want out like you keep asking this is a unique situation and posters have been trying to explain and you either don’t want to hear it or your mind is made up about who DWs character. I’ll take my chances with DW bc I know for a fact what and who he is right now. We’re hoping and praying for Tua but early returns weren’t great. They weren’t absolutely terrible but outside of Arizona and maybe KC the rest of it was meh. I’ll take my chances with the known rather than leaving it up to fate. And even if Tua is “destroying” the league in Houston which I doubt but if he is we just watched a DW “destroy” the league with a career year and yet they went 4-12 bc the Texans FO made every bad decision possible and the same would happen to Tua or whoever is going to be the next Houston QB. Imagine DW with a legit head coach a smart FO and a support system. I already know what that looks like and it equals titles. That’s the exact infrastructure we have in place at Clemson and he delivered us a national championship. Our first since 1981 and took down Nick Saban to do it. It was also Saban’s 1st loss in a national championship game. The guy is a winner and he has that rare ability to put the team on his back when it matters most. I know you or somebody will say well what the hell happened this year but we’ve already explained in detail what a Houston has done to him and failed to do for him.

Watson has his choice where he goes. Nothing can change that. Dont matter if Jets offer 20 1st round picks.
