Deshaun Watson mega thread

But they would be miles closer to it. Period.

That gigantic point some of you continue to fail to understand.

And MIA is in a much better position to not only be really good right away with Watson — they wouldn’t need to add a ton to reach the next level of SB contender. That just might be obtained via the remaining draft selections and via FA.

If you’re playing a game of chess, you always want the queen on your side of the board. The player that doesn’t have a queen is always at a greater disadvantage.

Period.

Great point Ejay... And you’re right. We would be closer. But at what cost? And you say we wouldn’t need to add a ton. I disagree. We need a RT. We need a new Center. We don’t have any receivers except for an often injured DVP. We have 1 decent pass catching TE and no high quality NFL RB’s. We need a cover linebacker. We need a safety.

We would get one year of DW at 10 mil per. Then his cap number skyrockets. And....We don’t know what we have with Tua. But the point is....We currently have Tua. We don’t have to trade for him. We can use the draft picks we have to fill the holes we currently have. And our cap is solid for at least the next 3 years.

I think the point that the pro trade guys are missing is....While DW is a great QB. He won 4 games this year. Inevitably the answer to that is....Well it’s not DW’s fault.....His team sucked. Exactly.....Why did that happen? They traded a bunch of picks and talent away. Which is exactly what the pro DW guys want to do.

Let’s have a little NFL history lesson....How did Minnesota do after trading all those picks for Hershel Walker? How many Super Bowls did they win? Spoiler Alert: 0

Again, DW is a FA in 2 years. Let’s see what we have in Tua. If he sucks....We can chase DW in Free Agency.

No, they don’t need a ton. That’s hyperbole. They won 10 freaking games for pete’s sake. Despite all the deficiencies everyone complains about.

Besides, my comment in not needing to add a lot was more in comparison to the other teams also mentioned to legitimately be in the mix for Watson merely because of the draft assets they have.

NYJ and JAX both need A LOT. The Dolphins however are much further along. And, again, can much more easily sustain the loss of draft capital. That continues to be the main point.

Furthermore, adding a QB of Watson’s talent and ability would improve this team more than some of you are able to imagine.

While HOU only won 4 games, look how many they threatened to win simply because of Watson’s greatness. If he benefitted from MIA’s defense, special teams and coaching — look out!

And while MIA is still in need of offensive player makers, that can still be added with whatever draft capital they are able to retain and via FA.

MIA’s offensive line surely needs to be improved, but some of that will happen via player development — which Flores and staff have been good at — and the fact that Watson makes any line look better due to his ability to escape pressure and make good things happen.

Ejay....You make good points. I’m not going to say you’re wrong on any of it. Again....I’m not a big Tua fan. I’m just saying that we don’t know what we have in Tua right now....And we don’t have to trade for him. We can use the draft capital we have right now to fill a lot of holes.

How many teams that have given up a kings ransom has it ended up working out for? Very few if any is the answer. I don’t want to be the Vikings.

i don’t think anyone would want to make a trade that ultimately hurts our team. A distinction should be made that people aren’t saying trade for him at all costs, they are saying we would be foolish to not at least explore a deal and make one if it makes sense for us, because, at least at the moment, DW is a gigantic Upgrade over Tua.

would you make the deal for say, Tua, a 1 and a 2 this year and a 1 or a 2 next year? We’d still have the normal amount of picks this year Including a 1 and a 2 to fill team needs. I don’t think that would hurt us too bad. Regardless, we are in great shape moving forward.

All ready reports out of texans camp that things are improving since beimemy interview. Thankfully this will go away.

Of course..Watson was pounding the table for his women beating friend...And that's what you guys wanted here?

Man the NFL is full of people that made mistakes in their lifetime. I hope nobody holds your biggest mistake in life against you forever.

Not me. I just Watson to stay in Houston. I don’t want jets to get him and I want us to stay the course.

I'd love for that moron to go to the Jets and screw them up even more...

Bdizzle.... The operative words in your sentence are “at least at the moment”. The main reason I’m against trading for Watson is because of Tua. We just don’t know what we have yet. And again.....We don’t have to trade for Tua, we already have him. We invested the #5 overall pick in the draft in him. That’s already a pretty hefty investment in a QB. Everyone asking what if we give the Texans This pick or that pick isn’t asking what if Tua is another Steve Young? I’ve been a Dolphins fan a long time.....And I’ve been on this board a long time......And one of the running jokes on this board is how our cast offs go on to be stars somewhere else. Well....What if we trade for Watson and Tua goes on to win 3 Super Bowls with Houston?

I’ve said it before....could Tua be a bust? Yes. And I’ll eat my words if he is. But all the pro DW guys also have to admit that Tua could turn out to be a star in this league. Whether it’s the former or the latter is yet to be seen. So...I say.....Load this team up and see what our “bird in the hand” has.

He's in the driver's seat. Texans are trying to appease him with Bienimy interview and potential hire. DW has a no trade clause so he has to want to go to wherever he goes. I highly doubt he wants to leave his rebuild to go to the Jets rebuild...

Well, that may be true because Watson obviously wanted the Texans to hire a minority GM and a minority head coach which is why they reversed course and interviewed Bienemy and I think Leslie Frazier when originally they weren't going to, but it also may be that it decreases his trade value if the Texans come out and say that Watson is disgruntled to the point there is no making him happy there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the plan to ride with Tua. I'm confident he will improve, but the potential to land an already proven elite QB in a trade like Watson doesn't happen ever, so we should explore it and at least see what it would take to get him. If it doesn't make sense, we pass. I'm in the camp that Watson would actually represent the "bird in the hand" moreso than Tua right now if the price was right.

Plus..i'm sorry....but in a 4-12 season..Watson may not have been the biggest problem...but he had a hand in that 4-12 season...
think about it this way...our team last year with nothing, won one more game than the Texans did this year with their supposed superstar QB.

I couldn’t agree more.
