Did I just watch a replay of a game from last season or is it me?

Not just 4 more pre-season games, more like a month to learn it. Thats a lot of time, and I'm going to guarentee right here right now that the o'line will be SOLID this year, and will be a hell of a lot better than last year. It was the first pre-season game, give them time to gel, learn to blitz pick-ups.

Well, saying the O-Line will be "better" isn't much of a guarantee, it's almost a certainty since it couldn't get much worse. But I do agree with you there.

Why throw a deep post? All that does is leave a receiver unprotected in the middle of the field with the safeties (who in general hit harder than corners). Meaningless game, so do what it takes to get the important players out injury free.

While I understand your point in theory, obviously the Bears felt the need to practice that part of their offense.....and it clearly worked.

No, you watched a meaningless preseason game. The first of five to be exact.

:yeahthat:

(Although I wouldn't refer to it as meaningless as this is the time that we get to play against other teams instead of our own D and O scrimmaging against each other. In other words.....don't panic.....it IS preseason. ;) )

welll i must something here , first in some areas we are better but on deffense i think we are worse esp. the seconday. the bears wore our deffense down no if or butts about it. second john madden said it best the bears will have a much easier time of rebounding back due the division they are in. if we were in the nfc we might have a chance at 500. but not in our division. third , our oline and secondary is bad so i think people are kidding themselves if they think this is a 10 win team. now i was hoping to say that could happen but i just dont see it.
i say that i would give our wrs an "A" TONIGHT our qbs i would give an "b-"
but the oline i would have to give an "F" .
I WILL SAY WE HAVE TALENT ;IT JUST CERTAIN AREAS WE NEED HELP
i am happy with sage and gus and i think brock did better than i thought he would. i am going to say something that i thought i never would but could i be wrong about donald lee?
i loved that last run made by kay-jay harris . i hope we keep him . as for minor i say cut him.
boston , gillmore, booker, welker chambers all get an"A" alex holmes and evans and jamar martin get an "A"
guys i think we are two yrs away from really being good becuase we still have a few holes. i am sorry guys i am trying to see us at 10 wins but i cant.

That statement is very "un-Roy Williams" like TarHeelFinFan, how you practice is directly relative to how you play in real games......

(I'm a heel fan and couldn't resist making the analogy.... ;) )

Practice is different from meaningless exhibition games meant to evaluate talent and potential cuts. I expect the guys to go at it hard in practice and to practice our real playbook.

Football is a different sport from basketball in that injuries are much more of a factor. How many ACL tears are there in the NBA vs. the NFL?

In exhibition games Roy only plays the starters for five to ten minutes (although that will increase this year with the inexperienced team) and runs very few non-vanilla plays.

Umm it was a pre-season game. Nevermind an extra one, a 5th one.

This pre-emptive b!tching is always amazing to me.

i agree we will be lucky to win 6 especially when teams throw for 450 yards on us!!
That does kind of sum it up. I knew we would miss Surtain. I am aware that this is not a surprise, but it was painful to view.

It was a presason game?????????? Oh, I must not have noticed. :shakeno:

Man you guys are sensitive....lol.

It just looked like A GAME FROM LAST SEASON, PERIOD. If you don't agree that's fine, but it's not like I am saying we just lost the friggin Super Bowl here.

Just would have liked to see a little more in certain areas, but as you guys have mentioned (correctly I may add), we have 4 more of these to go. So let's see what happens from here.

It seems to me that you are really stretching to see this in an optimistic way here.

What are you guys smoking/drinking? Why the heck would Saban do trick plays and things like that? The point was to be as vanilla as possible. It is, afterall, only a scrimmage.

How is that stretching. Of our core WRs we only have one healthy legit deep threat (Chambers). Boston is still adjusting to his knee injury, and no need to risk CC.

Well the thing of it is that wasn't even our starters out there to start with. Do you think Bell and Tillman will start over Jones and Shulters? Do you think Crowder will start over Seau? Do think Zgonia will start DT over Carter? I think Carter will move to DT and Holliday will start opposite of Taylor. I don't think St Clair will start at RG. Need I continue. This was the first preseason game and its clear to me that this was all about evaluation. How some of the younger guys would play in a game situation against someone other than you own teamates on a day to day basis. If its still like this come the 4th preseason game then maybe we need to start worrying until then, the wait is over football season is finally here.
