Did I just watch a replay of a game from last season or is it me?

What are you guys smoking/drinking? Why the heck would Saban do trick plays and things like that? The point was to be as vanilla as possible. It is, afterall, only a scrimmage.

I missed that...who suggested the trick plays?

Not to mention a deep pass play takes time to develop, and with our o-line time wasn't guaranteed. Again, no need to risk a QB going down (even though they're all mediocre at best) considering how much the Bears blitzed.

It was a presason game?????????? Oh, I must not have noticed. :shakeno:

Man you guys are sensitive....lol.

It just looked like A GAME FROM LAST SEASON, PERIOD. If you don't agree that's fine, but it's not like I am saying we just lost the friggin Super Bowl here.

Just would have liked to see a little more in certain areas, but as you guys have mentioned (correctly I may add), we have 4 more of these to go. So let's see what happens from here.

You are comparing a reg-season game from last year to the 1st pre-season game of this year and you think others are being sensitive?

Aiiighty then.

I guess I don't quite see your point.

I am actually not being "sensitive" at all by comparing one game to another....I just found it kind of ironic more than anything else.

By that logic though why didn't we just run it in the middle every single play then if we are so paranoid about injuries? (I know that is hyperbole but I hope you see what I am saying)

As I mentioned before, there is a happy medium somewhere...

Some people were expecting too much out Saban & Co for this game, expecting deep passes, trick plays, different coverage and an overall more aggressive offense and defense. This is only the beginning, folks. Please stop complaining about the game calling.

I could see your point if the TWO situations were even remotely comparable.

I did not think Feeley looked that good and why is Feeley laughing on the sidelines after the way he played....Gus clearly outplayed him and should be our starter. Our D-backs looked horrible, and way too many penalties....hopefully we can fix these things.

Ok, well....I guess I wish I shared your optimism. Definitely respect the opinion.

I personally don't think it would be "giving anything away" to throw a few deep posts, fly patterns, etc. but hey, that's just me.

They have 4 more pre-season games to learn the offense, so I'm sure it will get more efficient before the season starts.

I agree with you. There are some things you look for and areas of concern to focus on. Just about every deep play the Bears ran, they had our corners beat by at least 5 yards - good thing for the overthrows!

I disagree when people say that the preseason means "nothing", I think it actually shows alot.

Id play better too if I had more NFL experience and if I already knew the system my coordinator taught me before I arrived. Give it time, then we'll decide. I think both QBs had their share of highs and lows.

Hey, if you don't see the comparison, that's fine with me. Difference of opinion is ok my friend.

I am quite confident the team won't look anything like this for 9/11 opener that is for sure so I do share your optimism.

Good discussion guys, gotta run.

Two things I know for certain from this game.
1.Anyone who actually thinks they can accurately predict the number of regular season wins we will have, based on this game, is a fool.

2. Ricky definitely needs to lose that scraggly looking excuse for a beard he has.

No wonder we couldnt win last year, Wanny forgot to change the preseason playbook once the season began, since we ran the same plays we ran all last year DURING THIS PRESEASON GAME!

3. Ricky needs to add bulk. He looks so much smaller than a year ago. I know he isnt our bulldozer runningback anymore, but it could be a concern when he has to start moving the piles and breaking tackles.
