Disapointed with Hickey this offseason

We'll see. I'm not worried. We already have CB's we drafted last year, and everyone is reporting we are definitely drafting more.

What I would have liked is a veteran RB. But I've read that Hickey doesn't do that, and wants a young RB in the draft this year, probably in the 2nd round.

I've seen reports and posts saying that we are going to fill our needs in the draft at OG, RT, TE, RB, LB, S, and CB. So, we fill 7 needs with good-VG players with 6 picks. Don't think so.

Don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but I am disapointed with all the offseason moves besides our resignings of Starks & Grimes.

We signed an injury prone LT and FS, an over the hill CB at an overpriced contract, who was awful last year and a DT Earl Mitchell, again overpriced in a year where the draft is deep at DT.

I would have been far happier with Anthony Collins and resigning Clemons and Carroll, while drafting a DT in draft. Would have saved a ton of money and IMO been no worse off.

I know I'll get shot down for this but I believe after initial frenzy of wanting everyone in FA, once the season kicks off many will be posting the same

Yeah, I think you are definitely in the minority on this one. by all accounts, he is doing a great job filling our needs ahead of the draft. I think he's doing a great job so far

IMHO Hickey is currently doing an outstanding job (but still more needs to be done obviously). If he would have done your plan.......I'd want him fired ASAP, since the PHINZ would look weaker. The only move that Hickey has done that I do not like is signing Cortland Finnegan (he's a bum and complete waste of money) IMHO. But no GM can be 100%, bottom-line Hickey is clearly doing big time work right now (but clearly more needs to be done obviously).

I'm dissapointed only that the Patriots have gotten better and if we aren't able to play with them then we really haven't done much good for ourselves. I'm not going to kid myself into thinking Revis will not greatly upgrade their secondary and allow them to put together more blitz packages and help out that pass rush. I'm also not going to write Browner off to a failed PED test just yet. The Pats pretty much took Hartline and Wllace away with those moves unless we get really creative (which I sure as hell hope we do) and move them around and go up tempo to hopefully cause confusion. We need an answer for Gronk in case he's healthy and I'd rather see Dion Jordan getting after Brady. I would also love another middle of the field option because it's sure looking like that is where you'll need to make hay vs NE. A complete true TE would be great, this would push Clay into a mismatch role where I fell he is best suited. Long story short I'd like to sign an RT in free agency, even though this is looking unlikely, so we can draft a TE in the first round (assuming there is one worthy available at 19). I feel a complete TE to pair with Clay could push this offense over the top. I do understand it starts with blocking so if we can't get a starting caliber RT in FA I certainly would be OK with drafting one in round 1.

I pretty much agree with everything you said here. I totaly agree that we need a real and complete TE to go along with what Clay can do. We do need a RB that knows how to pick up a blitz but everything else I'm on board with.

Ozzy rules!!

Not sure what you are talking about ! Hickey has done a great job so far. And as far as Anthony Collins is concerned he may not fit team scheme the way coaches want!

Not the I agree with the entire premise of the OP, but somehow others know that Hickey has done an outstanding job already?

I couldn't disagree more....Albert ' s back spasms are reportedly a thing of the past and he is better than Collins by a fair margin.

I love the moves...The addition of Delmas and Finnegan bring attitude to our secondary and talent. Earl Mitchell has rare atleticism and with an improved secondary, Wake, Odrick, Vernon & Jordan make for scary defense.

My only disappointment which could still be alleviated in not landing another starter on the O-line.

I don't want to rely on drafting 2 starters.

With all that's been done we still are in great cap shape...so far so good.

I dunno OP, I think you're focusing too much on the negatives of Albert, Finnegan, and Mitchell. Are they homerun sure-fire signings? No, they're not, they have their respective weaknesses, but Albert's a new big body for the OL, Finnegan brings some scrappiness to an otherwise extremely soft DB unit (aside Reshad Jones, but he went downey soft last year) and Mitchell is a bit unproven, but hey, thats part of bringing on talent, you take chances.

I'm excited for the signings because they're in key areas where we needed more talent, especially veteran talent. They don't have to be the best of their positions in my eyes, just extra veteran leadership to give that football IQ depth a boost.

Who the hell knows how he did? I mean really most of us loved Ireland's moves too. Wait and see, it shouldn't take too long to find out the truth.

Of course you don't know...it's matter of liking direction and gameplan...no one can predict with any certainty how it will all shake out....but I like the direction we are heading.

Either way, your expectations can't be met. You can't overhaul a roster in one year in either FA or the draft.

What do we do with the O lineman we drafted last year, tell him he can't compete for a starting job? What about the 2 cornerbacks? I don't know what you want. We're not adding players for a run to a championship, we were barely an 8-8 team last season.

My expectations are not that high, add one more on the OL, and go from there on other positions. In the draft I expect 2 guys who can help the team this year.
