Should Ireland be fired?

I don't have a problem with Ireland, if we can get a better GM, just like if we could get a better person for ANY position I'm all for it,

but I think Philbin should go before Ireland. The coach did not get it done. You can't blame the GM or the owner for the responsibilities of the FOCKN HEAD COACH unless you don't understand what those job titles are. :rolleyes2: :deadhorse:

I agree with this. I'm only on board with firing Ireland if it means Philbin can stay at least 1 more year. I am not in favor of gutting the entire team because if Ireland's past transgressions.

If we could replace Ireland with someone who is willing to work with Philbin, then I'd be for it. If we could promote someone like Brian Gaine and remove the "final say" authority from the GM role, I'd be for that scenario as well. But to just fire the whole scouting staff, GM, coaching staff, ect is a giant step backwards imo. We will get worse before we get better if we do that.

WTF has Philbin done during his time here to warrant this kind of job security??

Well Philidelphia and Kansas City would disagree with you. After the past two games Im not sure why anyone thinks Philbin is the one to lead us anywhere.

Giving Wheeler the contract he did and that abomination of an offensive line alone should be enough to get him fired.

I strongly disagree... the offensive line and defensive issues fall on Ireland. He put that linebacker group together and he assembled that offensive line.

Those 2 teams were only 1 season removed from the playoffs when they made coaching changes. You cant just apply one franchise's circumstances and blanket it to the whole NFL. That would be a poor way to make a decision, you know, the exact same thing you are complaining about with the Fins...poor decision making.

So Philbin has been so good as a coach you determine that we keep a GM just because of him. I don't get your logic but oh well.
Should we just call Philbin coach Choke.

That's just it, Philbin has not been good as a coach.....according to Philbin they make decisions together, now I am one of those who thinks a coach should have 3 yrs to show he has the team going in the right direction and he has what it takes to win a Super Bowl especially a first time HC....first yr is a learning experience and he is putting in his system, 2nd yr player personnel to fit system and changing mistakes made in season 1, 3rd yr putting the final pieces together and making a run for the title.....why keep him and have someone come in as his boss who may not agree with what he's doing or not on the same page with personnel.....then you end up firing him after yr 3 and we are rebuilding a yr later than needed.....I say leave everything in place with minor changes with asst coaches or blow it up and give the next regime 5 yrs to get it right......no half measures...

Just saying nothing is clad in stone and a new GM does not make us worse. I don't see why we would keep a GM that for the last five years has not had a winning season, not one factor should outweigh that.

Well like I said, I don't want him either but lets look at the big picture first and examine all possible scenarios.

The big picture. he is the big picture. Keeping him just to guarantee another season of Failbin is senseless. You don't want him but you want to keep him to keep philbin.
Fire Ireland and let the new Gm make the decision on staff.

We've only had 1 winning season under Ireland, and most of his supporters don't even give him credit for that because they say 2008-2010 was dominated by Parcells.

If that's not enough to fire Ireland here, especially in a win now league, I don't know what to tell you.

Seriously, what has Philbin done that you want to keep this guy?

I dont believe the GM is the big picture. I've advocated recently that the GM responsibilities should be reduced. I've always felt the coaches should pick the players, and many of the head coaches around the league who do so are also the more successful ones. I don't like the traditional authoritarian-style GM that picks the players for the coaches. I'd like to see Brian Gaine (or a new hire) in the role of a Director to put together the draft board and free agent targets, and let the coaches make the call. If we are going to fire Ireland and bring in some GM like Pioli who will blow up the roster and organization, well I think that's the wrong approach and we will start the new timer on another 3 years before the next firing.

doesn't matter what we think... the die's been cast, the plot has been written: piss off the fanbase so badly that when the team is sold/moved to LA, no one will care. if y'all believe this can't get any worse, you're fooling yourselves.
