Does this look like Martin was threatened by Richie?

Again the whole team or OL was probably out that night in New Orleans. This photo was taken Sunday night in New Orleans before the MNF game.

Girl sees Dolphins players out in the French Quarter. She asks for a photo and 2 players oblige. They smile for the photo. You don't know what they did after the picture. You don't know if they were talking to each other, walking side by side, holding hands, or what. All we know from this is the girl, a Dolphins fan, asked for a photo and they said yes.
Could be, but their own teamates last night were saying they did not see any signs of abuse between Incognito and Martin. Its not like Richie held back in the presence of the rest of the team. I just think this whole story is missing some peice of information that will eventually come out and I wish people would not be so quick to judge.

Did Incognito refer to Martin as a racial slur?
Did he threaten him?
Did he or did he tease his friend? Thats the point, we dont know.. I honestly am not sure. Context is difficult for us to grasp becasue we are not part of the situation.

He said clearly yesterday that he knew nothing about this until this past weekend.

Philbin revealed that he met Martin last Monday evening, after Martin initially left the team following an incident in the team's cafeteria. The coach continued to speak with Martin and his family throughout the week.

"In all my discussions with Jonathan and members of his family at no time were there any accusations or allegations of misconduct by any members of this team or this organization," Philbin said.

"As the weekend unfolded, early on Sunday, as you well know, as an organization we released a statement that was 100 percent factual. Soon thereafter, we were contacted by representatives of Jonathan, and before I say that I should let you know that in all my discussions with Jonathan and members of his family, at no time were there any accusations or allegations of misconduct by any members of this team or organization. Later on Sunday, we were contacted by one of his representatives where they in fact had some concerns over player conduct that had occurred. We immediately took those concerns very, very seriously."

My Point is not to defend Incongnito, its more the fact that the whole Timeline of events just doesnt make sense and I think many people are rushing to judge a bit prematurely.
Context is a difficult thing for people to grasp. Unless you are part of the situation its hard for any of us to really know the ill intent one way or another.

I dont know. To me its pretty cut and dry. Context (if your referring to tone, setting or the like) isnt taken into consideration (as far as sexual harrassment/hostile working environment laws go) at all if the victin feels they were being harrassed. The question is, did or did not harrassment occur and JM is saying that yes, it did occur. This legally protects JM from virtually everything (unless it is proven he did some harrassing himself) and puts a HUGE liablity on Incognito as well as the Franchise.

I think Martin handled it the wrong way, completely. But, I still don't comprehend how some people can defend Richie at this stage.

Truthfully I think everyone is at fault.

Martin, Incognito, Philbin, Ireland & the NFL.

Racial slurs are not teasing....

Did Aaron Hernandez teammates know he was capable of killing someone? He probably didn't show any signs of that around the team or in the locker room. Yes, away from the field he had a very different life.

Just because players aren't a certain way around the team doesn't mean they aren't capable of what they are away from the field. Facts are in those messages he left. Martin probably tried to kill him with kindness, assumption, and in the end it didn't work.

I think we, they, are very lucky that when Martin snapped he just left the team. Could have been much worse with someone of a different mental makeup.

Techinically JM's family or representatives are the only ones speaking at this point. I wish he would come out already and confirm or deny these reports felt abused.

To some yes they are not teasing.... to some they might be. Its all a matter of opinion, perspective.

Cris Carter brought this up last night. He said if an NFL player says they are going to kill you, you don't take that lighty and you better be looking over your shoulder.

Legally for JM to be protected, he doesnt HAVE to file any reports but instead all he has to do is bring it to the attention of his union rep, coach, GM, HR dept, whoever. I mean if he wants to proceed with the accusations, then ultimately he will have to file suit but for him to be initially protected, he doesnt.

Exactly.

My issue with this is Martin should have taken it up the food chain right then and there. He probably thought it would go away and when it didn't it left the mess that exists now.

Different day and age now.

I agree.... I can't speak for Martin, but it does seem like he wanted to make it all work and figured coming into camp as VET would change things, but apparently it didn't.

Again, you miss the point completely...that the photo proves nothing...I just the most extreme example I could think of...

The abused wife situation does apply as it again shows that photos can be misleading...

There are some who are doing everything they can to build a case against Martin...and searching for any little evidence they can to support Incognito it is getting old. To support a person who makes racist comments to a teammate is something I cannot understand...and many are doing it just because he is a better football player.

Nope...I got the point....There are two sides to this...and I agree alot of people are leaning to far to one side of the other.A LOT of people are trying everything to make a case against RI...see how that works.
I think it falls in the middle and both parties have fault.
The racist comments?Well, with all the other black players around and not taking a punch at Ritchie,I guess they felt ok with it....case in point... one of my workout partners is Asian..he is a great guy that has endured
true racism....but when I see him slacking on the bench press and struggling...I will scream some of the most vile racist comments at him, attack his mommy and so on to get him mad enough to push that extra rep.
He does the same to me...we are buds...we are men...we do that kind of crap.

They are both crappy football players.

Legally, this means nothing. If RI was making racial slurs and every black man in the lockerrom didnt care, but the black janitor outside the door heard and was offended, he has a legal right to file a hostile work environment lawsuit.

The more I read and see the more this looks like it is just about Martin trying to make sure that the Dolphins don't come after him for
the money already paid to him.

This is the only way that this makes sense to me.

How would they come after him for money?
