Dolphins Big Problem at DT

Yeah Odrick being a FA after this year changes things a lot but, was still looking to sign Joseph even before that. I'm still not with ya on Ebron or Martin as first rounders "this year' for this team.

Well there ya go. See Ebron would probably be in my top 19 on my big board (which I haven't done yet...LOL) and Martin would be on the bubble. I like Ebron and think he could be and elite TE and would be the big red zone target Miami is sorely missing. As far as Martin goes I agree with Mayok and think he could be a solid LT, but and elite LG and as of right now pretty much anywhere on the offensive line is a need.

I was with ya for a while there but, Shelby is a DE and AJ a practice squad guy, and the only VG DT prospects will be gone by the 2nd round or before.

Francis showed promise last year and think he could continue to grow in our rotation which would help our depth. Who knows how good he could become? Shelby did play DE but he's got size and could play at DT on passing downs along with Wake, Vernon, and Jordan.

If he dropped past Ten at #11 I would start thinking about it and at what number would I target? I probably wouldn't move above #15 and wouldn't give any more than a mid round pick to do it. While I like Matthews, I don't love him. I think he is a very good run blocker and on pass blocking he has sound technique but not sure he is athletic enough to handle speed rushers in the NFL on a team that wants to be more finesse than power.

There are four tackles I really like in this draft and two of them will probably be transitioned to guard. For tackles I like Antonio Richardson and James Hurst. I also like Martin and Joel Bitonio, but think both of them will end up playing guard

Agree. IF Mathews cost less than a second, I would have interest. If not, I move on.

That's fair but, not going solid LT or Great G with our top pick.

Vernon moved inside on some passing downs last year, with some success.

The more i look at the more i prefer Starks over Solia. Solia is more of a leftover guy from the 3-4 days at NT. Starks fits in better and to have both Starks and Odrick in there would fit the 4-3 better. With Francis there he could fill the type of role that Solia played as well as to draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round because he will be a rotational player so you dont really wanna go all in on a guy for rotation when you can get a starting OG/RT in the first who will play every snap when Offense is out.

If Starks and Solia both go elsewhere i wouldnt be opposed to a DT in the first round

You can get a Starks in almost any draft/free agency. Dime a dozen. A huge athletic guy that can stuff the middle and bulldoze 2 blockers at once? Not so much... Hell we let go a guy that was the same exact player as him in Tony Mcdaniel, and we can get another Starks in the draft with Sutton, Jernigan or Johnson.

You sign Soliai, it's not even close.

LOL. Three time Pro Bowlers, who are top ten year after year, grow on tree's. What are you thinking?

Ummm... everyone knows the pro bowl is a popularity contest.. You're telling me Incognito was a pro bowl guard in 2013??? Let's be serious here

We don't have the 2008-2010 Starks anymore. We have 2012-2013 Starks and he's not a pro bowler... More like expendable.

I think Donald will become a star and has the looks of a Warren Sapp meaning he is a little short and light but is a big playmaker

I agree. And players with that type of interior disruptive ability are rare. I made a related post today in the draft forum. Donald is not as underrated as prior to Senior Bowl week but he's still slotted too low. It would be nuts to draft a good but not special offensive lineman above Aaron Donald.

IMO, it would be idiotic to get rid of Soliai and Starks. Never overreact to the most recent season. One of our few legit strengths is toughness on the defensive front. Sure, it had lapses last season, partially exaggerated due to inept linebacking play. If we get rid of Soliai and Starks there's great danger the strength turns into a weakness. I would keep Soliai. Guys with builds like that can often play at high level into their mid 30s if not slightly beyond. He would be helped immensely with a penetrating lineman like Donald alongside.

Forget the Pro Bowl. Starks had his best year in 2013, and would be more than happy to debate that if ya like. Most is based on I, me, and mine watching him play but, I can add much from PFF, ESPN, and NFL.

Care to take your shot?

If a DT is the 'best player available' at 19, it's a no-brainer.
Any BPA but QB is a no-brainer, IMO.
In the third round, I'd even take a QB if that was BPA.

Wrong........ 2009 was Starks best year of his career. 2013 was not even better than his first year here

Not great, just average and not more deserving than a DT that you will not find in the draft or free agency like Soliai.

Pretend I'm from Missouri, and SHOW ME? Yo will not be able to. JMO but, take your best shot?

O-line is by FAR the #1 priority and has to be !!! Get a good, descent DT where you can to develop him in the next year or so,but the O-line HAS got to be fixed,to many years it has been terrible, enough is enough. Having enough time for the QB to actually throw the ball, and being able to punch some holes for a running game might actually help us and get us scoring more than a pitiful 19 points a game !

IMO i would try and sign Both Starks and Solia at the right price , and it might not be to hard to do (hopefully) Both guys are 30 and prob dont wont to move there families , Maybe we can get them both to sign at say 3-4 year for around 5-6 mil a year and give them a decent signing bonus to help sweetin the deals , but if not then i would let them walk , i think they both like it here , but want to get paid just like anybody else , hopefully they will take a discount (hometown) to stay here and finish there careers here in Miami ,but if they dont , i say we go BPA at the DT spot , grab a couple of FA T/G THEN draft another T/G in the 2nd ,and it was said that RB would have decent value in the 3rd , so i would look there for my brusier RB then Maybe look at TE in the 4th or vise versia with RB/TE which ever would be BPA in th 3rd ,then hopefully grab another QB in the 5th or 6th then round out the draft by selecting the rest with OL help .......
