Dolphins Big Problem at DT

WR is not a priority!!!!! Linemen, defense (corners,LB,safety) RB in later rounds. BPA if they really impress.

Starks and Soliai were both so bad this year let both walk. Unless one of them offers a hometown discount. Otherwise let them walk and look elsewhere.

Oddrick deserves to get an extension, would rather spend the money there. Look at Art Jones in free agency. Big-time talent who deserves BIG money. Upgrade the position

Would stats suffice?

2009 - 56 tackles/7 sacks/5 stf/1 fr

2013 - 49 tackles/4 sacks/6 stf/1 fr

Not really. Lets expand on this, and realize that Starks was a 3-4 DE in 09, as opposed to a DT in 2013.

In 2009, he played 730 snaps, was ranked #5 with a 7.4 grade on the pass rush with 7 sacks, 10 hits, and 15 hurries. On the run, he was ranked #2 with a 15.0 grade. He had 36 solo tackles and 13 assists.

In 2013, He played 742 snaps, was ranked #8 with a 13.0 grade on the pass rush with 4 sacks, 6 hits, and 30 hurries, On the run, he was ranked #5 with a 15.3 grade. He had 39 solo tackles and 9 assists.

This is from PFF, and based on playing 50% of teams snaps. One thing to consider is that in 2009 there were not many 3-4 DE's playing half of the team's snaps. In 2013, the ranks included many more as NT's were included with DT's.

How about Melton from Chicago

Don't know, coming off a bad injury which should deflate his price but, what a talent when healthy. I like Joseph from the Giants, and would not be surprised if Wilfork comes into play to come home to finish hes career.

In all due respect, you could not have watched Stars play and posted this. No way.

So, your rebuttal is through more stats that show he was better in 2009? :ponder:

He played better as a 3-4 DE. The team saw him as a Ratliff type 4-3 DE back in Dallas, so that's why they moved him there. He needs to go back to a 3-4 team because he doesn't deserve anything more than middle of the pack pay where he's at.

Guess it's how you read the stats, grades, and rankings. Snaps and tackles are a wash. Total pressures and grades are better in 2013. The ranks are close but, comparing at two different positions, where 3-4 DE was very limited, and all DT's or NT's was much more extensive.

I also have to give Starks a bonus point in flipping the finger to the sidelines, no matter who he said it was intended for. LOL

EDIT- In 09, there were 17 3-4 DE's playing half the snaps vs 2013 having 40 DT's doing the same. It does make a difference.

why does everybody make such a big deal about him flipping someone off. Even Philban who doesnt like that type of stuff laughed it off in the following presser

And I am "LOL" as well.

They are the same age - how do the professional evaluators determine whether Soliai or Starks has the most gas left in the tank?
I would expect Kevin Coyle would be forced to evaluate and prioritize, but I welcome your thoughts.
I would tend to keep Soliai for a lower amount and try to lock Odrick up for 4 years.

Soliai has basically only been a full time starter since 2010. Starks came into the league in 2004 and played a lot straight away. no one has a crystal ball, of course, but there's more wear and tear on Starks.

I think Donald will become a star and has the looks of a Warren Sapp meaning he is a little short and light but is a big playmaker
I agree. Donald would be a nice pickup. I thought he was more of a late 1st early 2nd, but he seems to be moving up and for good reason. He is extremely disruptive and I like the Sapp comparison.

Miami could let Starks go, sign Albert and then draft a couple of offensive lineman pretty high.
