This is a total non story. But I guess fans love to blow crap out of proportion and engage in front office bashing circle jerks.
 
It says AFCE...I'd like to know if there are other teams that chose not to and who they are.

Philbin is busy getting his new OC situated. Lazor has a lot of catching up to do, and I think that takes precedence over a senior all-star game rehearsal. We can interview and watch these guys later, but we cant get Lazor caught up later. Philbin made hte right call to take care of business at home first. We have Gaine and the entire scouting staff representing the organization in Mobile, and that's plenty. Remember, this is the Senior Bowl, not the Combine.
 
It's amazing how some people on this board defend everything this team does. We need to be there and we're not!!

We are there. And dont you think Philbin needs to get this offense straightened out? We just hired a new OC last week. Thats pretty important.

We are there, just not the coaching staff. Plenty of other teams that also just send the scouting department and not the coaching staff.

he has been irelands personel right hand man and has been going there each year. he hasnt been fired, his job as it stands isnt in jeopardy, in fact, he is probably already the gm.

so, i dont see where he is such a trooper in this. biz as usual for him.

THESE REPORTS have been very misleading. its been sounding like NO ONE is there from the team around the boards. this one actually mentions coaching staff. gaine and the scouts are there [aka the finz talent team] so all these reports, both media and fans are TERRIBLY MISLEADING!!!

BIG MISTAKE GIVING GAINE THE GM JOB. [as i would bet he has always been the guy]. its all over but the podium drivel.
 
Well hopefully our future GM and/or his guys are there.

Philbin was the only AFC East coach not attending. New England's Bill Belichick, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan and Buffalo coach Doug Marrone were all at the Senior Bowl. Marrone took his entire staff. Ryan gave his assistants the option of attending or taking a vacation week. And Belichick did not have his assistants attend.

Take from it what you will, but all of the AFC East is in Mobile, in terms of coaches. We only have Brian Gaines down there, along with Ireland's scouts.

The only thing I can conclude from this is that Philbin does not feel a need to be there, and film is enough. Personally, I don't see why you can't do both. If Belichick feels there's some advantage, who am I to say there's not one.

No in fact they do not need to be. It's my understanding not all HC's attend. It's also my understanding the Senior Bowl is more about the NFL coaches catching up so to speak. It's more like a job fair for NFL coaches and scouts. If Philbin wasn't trying to get his new OC up to speed and he didn't attend then all this moaning and groaning would make even a little bit of sense.
