Dolphins Cut aj edds/other moves

"They are not switching Spitler for Edds. He’s actually being replaced with Marvin Mitchell who switched over to the Wil position in the Dallas game. Spitler plays the Mike position behind Dansby." Got this from the Sentinel, and it is the best explanation I can find to justify the Edds move.

I thought we cut Mitchel???

this from the guy who thinks spitler should play meaningful snaps week 1 in the nickle...i'm glad we don't agree...

Yea your right, I guess Edds wont be getting any playing time either.......I think it time to start a spitler fan club, want to join?

i'm just sick and tired of all these dumb *** personnel decisions and draft decisions and now all the sudden we think a te is a need when they have been staring you in the face in the draft the last 2 damn years...

and this oline still isn't a strength despite backing up a damn brinks truck to the training facility with the money we've invested there the last 4 years...

i feel like gordon ramsey in hells kitchen...tony and ireland "just **** off...all of you"

**** this, I am sick and tired of Jeff Ireland! Horrible decisions!

The guy was weak at the POA . . . but solid in coverage. Miami has 2 solid cover guys for the next 5 years in Burnett and Dansby . . . Edds would only see the field if there was an injury, and even then, it would be in a nickel situation only. I hope we put him on the PS, but this current Dolphins defense honestly has no room for AJ Edds and he would be inactive on gamedays. I said as much in my roster projection thread, though I didn't think he would get cut. Hopefully he ends up on the PS, but I would think somebody claims him before that happens.

Well if this isn't the biggest cripple fight, storm in a teacup, hyper-over-reaction, the sky is falling thread.....

9 pages over Edds versus Spitler? DOOOOOOOMED!!!!!

The guy was a 4th round pick. Maybe you're comfortable with this team throwing out everyone from rounds 2-5 every year, but sure would like this team to have the makings of a sustained winner, which you don't have if you don't develop your young talent.

The Fins talent level is miles away from where we were in 2008. We are actually cutting halfway decent/talented/potential filled players.

We may not make the playoffs (depends on O-line & Henne) but we will damn sure play some exciting football this year.

Well while I am surprised as any of you over the Edds cut and the OL and TE were certainly needs. Yea after reading many of your armchair observations which is a real big reason I visit finheaver is to read those observations I would have certainly thought that Jerry and Spitler would be given the axe first. I always look for patterns and with Bill Parcells it was easy to see that we drafted for size and doubles picks. This year it changed though. Going back to patterns though I would have kept Will Allen over Nolan Carol this year and after much thinking Livas over one of the 2 wide recievers in Moore or Wallace. Rookie free agents are not making this team this year it appears and if you were injured last year such as Edds and Allen that hurts your stock. They are trying to hang onto experince it appears even with Jerry and Spitler.
If you look down the our roster compared to the past 10 years those player are our guys there are more of our draft picks on it than ever before so we are doing some thing right. I know Cook, Rosario and Yeatman have all been mentioned by some of the best armchair QB's on this forum as options so I really do not see the front office disagreeing with many of your same observations.
How they handle the running back and 3rd QB positons will be interesting to watch.
We are talking about the backups here to guys so keep hanging in there.

honestly, I wish we would have kept Edds, but with our top 2 ILBs being pretty good in coverage Edds became expendable.

Other moves don't bother me so much. I thought we'd make a play for Rosario in FA because he can stretch the field.

I understand what you're saying, but neither of our backups are good in coverage. You don't want a drop-off if injuries happen and now we have a huge one instead of a slight one.

But what about next year, and the year after? Our top two LB's are good in coverage now, but Edds at least had some long-term potential.
