I don’t think it’s talked about a lot but I don’t find Tua to be a particularly smart dude. He actually comes off like a big dummy. I think that’s a factor in.. well, everything.
I think Tua is smart in terms of the playbook and reading defenses. I think his instincts sometimes fail him into thinking he can take hits when he runs more than the average QB. Sadly that doesn’t seem to be true. It’s not a matter of intelligence, rather it’s his instincts and desire to win sometimes overrule logic/discapline (which would allow for more wins).I don’t think it’s talked about a lot but I don’t find Tua to be a particularly smart dude. Well, he certainly has some elite processing time and other attributes… but like actual general intelligence, like when he speaks… he seems dumb. I’m not sure how much that effects him as a QB but I do imagine it does come into play as a leader.I think Tua is smart in terms of the playbook and reading defenses. We all want our QB to play hero-ball but sometimes, it’s not a good thing.
If Tuas speech makes you think he’s dumb, then, using that premise, 95% of the NFL must be utter morons.Well, he certainly has some elite processing time and other attributes… but like actual general intelligence, like when he speaks… he seems dumb. Joe. I could call an audible FFS. I imagine 90 percent of this board could. Simms...well the jury is still out on himDo they expect it because of the contract or because he's shown enough to actually expect it? Has he ever even shown enough to make one think he can call an audible?
I covered this in another thread, but the Dolphins had the 3rd fewest delay of game penalties in the league last year. Up from 5th least the year prior. The “too many delay of game penalties” mantra is just a made up narrative.

If one were to meet Tua at a family picnic, he would not have to speak into his "media filter" and then maybe one could accurately estimate his intellect, or at least his ability to speak. Everything we fans get to hear is carefully scripted. The HC is just now learning how to filter his interviews, so he stammers while he thinks through what he should say. Smoothly delivering "coachspeak and playerspeak" is a skill in itself but it should not be a measurement of intelligence. More likely it indicates a player is trying to be honest and forthcoming but he knows that he should not, so he is trying to think about what he should say. Again, a separate skill.Someone’s general intelligence is not determined by how they speak. That’s an extremely ignorant and inaccurate statement to make.
Tua being in command at the LOS makes me laugh.
Lmao
It also speaks to the flow in the offensive game ... it adds confusion ... sucks away confidence ... affects attitude ...That’s because we waste timeouts in a ton of them, not to mention how many times do we see them snap it with a few seconds remaining. Even if it doesn’t result in a penalty breaking the huddle with 8 seconds left completely limits what a qb can do at the line from reading coverage to changing plays and conducting motion. It’s a problem and not a made up narrative.
The Socratic method does seem to bother some folks around here.I realize some of my posts startle you with my apparent brilliance, but I am just trying to speak the truth. - LOL
