Dolphins hire Tannebaum as consultant

]

Using that Pretzel Logic - these Billionaire$ who wanted into professional sports ownership should have patiently waited:
» Arthur Blank: Until one of the NY teams became available instead of purchasing the Atlanta Falcons
» Zygie Wilf: see Arthur Blank (instead of purchasing the Minnesota Vikings)
» Jimmy Haslem: waited until the TN Titans or Pittsburgh Steelers became available instead of carpet bagging in Cleveland
» Jeffrey Lorie: Waited for an opportunity to buy the Patriots instead of purchasing the Eagles
» The DiBartolo- York Family: Waited for the Browns to change ownership.. or made Modell an offer he couldn't refuse instead of traipsing cross country to buy the 49ers
» Mark Cuban: should have tried to get the NBA to expand to Pittsburgh rather than purchasing the Mavericks; should have waited for the Pirates to come up for sale instead of making a bid for the Cubs.

...and etc ad nauseum

In none of those cases did the guy ended up buying the chief rival of the team he'd tried to buy in the first place. I have no trouble believing Ross is a big Dolphins fan... now. However he keeps involving former Jets in this team in a way that's oblivious to how it looks. Curtis Martin on the ethics committee. Consulting with Eric Mangini. Now Tannenbaum. It shows where his heart -- if not is, at least was. And he should know better.

Arthur Blank shouldn't be on that list, by the way. He made his money founding Home Depot, which is based out of Atlanta.

.

The more important issue is whether any of the former Jet people he's bringing on are any good. Frankly, if it works out with the former Jet people all the better. Remember how great it was when Pennington knocked the Jets out of playoffs and clinched a spot for us.

I guess you can say it indicates some kind of bubble mentality with Ross, but it isn't really true. The most important nonplayer positions have not been former Jets. -- Ireland, Hickey, Philbin, Sporano, etc.

I dunno, in the end, Tannenbaum either helps the team or he doesn't. The Jets angle doesn't really concern me all that much.

and of course there's Dan Gilbert, one of the original carpetbagger owners not named Norman Braman. Grew up in Detroit, went to Mich State and got his law degree from Wayne State before with some family members building a predatory mortgage loan company in Detroit that they then sold to Intuit as Quicken Loans as a key exec.. moving them to Detroiit, not Cleveland. He also owns 60 commercial buildings in the Detroit area and a number of other ventures through his family's holding company including Fat Head, which is headquartered in guess where? (Detroit). According the posters to whom I was responding, while LeBron may be "coming home" the owner of his team has no business being there! I think we can all agree if carrying forward this convoluted logic, Dan Gilbert has less right to own a Ckleveland team than Steve Ross does a S. Florida franchise (and is likely more of a "faux fan" eh?)

Mediocre signing from a mediocre franchise.

that has been light years better than your franchise this Century.

He was hired as a consultant, he's not officially a dolphin. the man has been around some of the greatest football minds for decades and ran a team that was pretty damn successful. Something like this can't hurt.

In my youth I used to frequent a gentleman's club with some of the prettiest ladies you've ever seen. I never developed DD's and changed my name to Mercedes.

tannebaum is a retard...fail forward fast...i'd hire some posters here before i hired that ass hat

On the surface this is a terrible hire but after reading what he will be doing who really cares?

Sent from my Nexus 7 FHD

I understand your perspective. But, to me "what will he really be doing" is just as bad. Ross hired an old friend who was ****ty at his job bc he felt like it...Why throw money at another jet reject to consult on some bs hundreds of stat nerds at Harvard could do as interns.

Like everyone else, I'm not thrilled about Tannebaum, but am I the only one who's really excited the Dolphins are interested in "innovation, analytics and sports science"???

:420:

...I bet I am, yes.

how was he ****ty at his job? you guys would kill for the success the Jets had under him. I am thankful he's not an actual employee of the dolphins.

Good to see Junc firing up the "We're better than you" machine again. By this time I imagine the $ per word is pretty high.

So basically we hired him to do nothing? We made up a couple of meaningless task/responsibilities for his position, but all and all the only value the hire had was comedy on finheaven.

I discuss reality, the facts are he built 3 playoff teams and 2 title game teams, you guys have 1 playoff app since 2002 and haven't seen a title game since 1992. it's common sense you guys would want the results he gave us but your jealousy/hatred of the Jets always gets in the way.
