Dolphins hiring Joe Barry

Any thoughts on the coach ?

Like or don't like and why

Going from a proven commodity in a DC to unproven.
Honestly I am not optimistic about next season at this point compared to last season.
If McDaniel can pull off a successful season next year and win a playoff game then that will be a tremendous achievement imo more so if he had gone that far this year.
This will be a huge test for Grier to aquire equal or superior talent that appears we will be loosing because of the cap.

Great hire and upgrade. He also has experience as DC (although not a very good one) and assistant head coach as well which is why I think we brought him in as well. Both McDaniel and weaver are younger coaches so having someone that’s been there before even if it was a failure is still valuable as he can provide insight on what works and what doesn’t. He was the Lb coach for the bucs during their top 5 all time year when they won the Super Bowl early 2000’s as well as took a pretty rag tag group lead by Cory Littleton and Dante Fowler to the Super Bowl with the rams in 2018 in which helped hold Brady and the pats to 13 points and Littleton picked off Brady. Both Littleton and Fowler have had a pretty sharp decline since departing from Barry.

Given the LBs he’s coaching… not an enviable job.

LT and Carl Banks it’s not
Once they return from their Injuries, he will have Chubb and Phillips. He also has Long and possibly Baker if they don’t decide to cut him for cap savings.

While this starting group might not be in the LT and Banks class. When the Dolphin LB’s are healthy, they are actually one of the better group of LB’s in the NFL.
