Dolphins Love DT Jonathan Allen - Our Big FA Fish?

It does matter because why would you pay that kind of money to a player when they wouldn’t see the lion share of the snaps?
It's like that on every team what are you talking about. It's all about rotation and keeping guys fresh so again has nothing to do with signing a player

I don't believe in building a team through Free Agency. I understand you must have some, but the core of the team should be built through the draft. Problem is, we have Grier. Can we trade him?
This. It's the main reason Miami does a bad job of keeping its own talent. Factoring in trades as well.

In Free Agency, I predict Grier goes OG, DT and CB. Not saying what the quality will be, but I predict he signs guys for those positions.

Agreed.

J. Allen/ Fries and Moehrig. Moehrig was my preference when we drafted Holland.

I forgot Safety! As long as we don't draft the UGA Safety in the 1st!

Well, Miami can, if they have a good FA. They play their cards right, they can pick whoever at 13.

Moehrig/ Starks would be a sick safety combo.

But yeah, Miami needs at least 1 starting G and DT out of FA to do that. But even then, Id prefer Jihad if they go defense at 13.

22 starters and a 53 man roster needs a decent percentage built through FA. Otherwise do the math, you miss on a couple 1-4th round players and you’re screwed.

Pass on Allen. 30 years old. Sacks have gone down each of the last 3 years. Will be very expensive and Fins are not ready to compete. Fins should be clearing cap space not adding to it in 202 yes this I don't **** care

Pass on Allen. Throwing money at guys who aren't the future would be criminally stupid for this organization.

If they don't address the position in this deep DT draft -- also stupid -- and he's still sitting there in the 2nd wave of FA with a much cheaper price tag ... then maybe but still not likely.
You would like to think the front office learned some kind of lesson over the last three years. I'd rather suck for a few years than be mediocre for the rest of my life.

Exactly!

We can probably afford 1 expensive free agent, not sure i want it to be on DT. I'd be looking to allocate spending to IOL, CB, and Safety before I do DT.

Poyer was a vet min player, yeah he wasn’t good but Miami was trying to gain draft capital from hunt and Wilkins which means they could spend big or they had to select from players teams cut.

Brewer/Brooks/Jonnu were the guys were actually spent a little money on since Brandon Jones, van ginkel, Davis and Elliot gave us a little wiggle room without losing the picks. Brewer and Jonnu both finished top 10 in their positions and Brooks I think was the best looking linebacker we’ve had since that 54 guy retired.

Fuller looked good when he played injuries were unfortunate still puzzled why they cut him, my guess is injury to his knee is worse than expected.

As for long, he just didn’t fit weavers system. He looked very good in 2023. That’s the shitty part of having 3 DC’s in 3 years, hard to find guys that can plug and play in any system.

Grier did solid for being so restricted, did it work out as planned? No but that also had to do with Tua missing games. It’s clear they had a plan and last year was their soft reset to let mega contracts go while trying to stay competitive and stock draft picks for the future.
Jonnu did not matter in the comp pick formula since he was a cap cut.

Moehrig was pretty even on his snaps divided between FS and Box. Starks seems like a pure FS. If we picked Emmanwori I wonder if he'd be a king sized FS?
I'd be happy with Moe, Bynum, or Reid. No Hufanga, too injury-prone.
