Dolphins Love DT Jonathan Allen - Our Big FA Fish?

If he really wants to play in Miami and is a bargain I’m all in. Every hole filled before the draft gives my dream of Warren and Skattebo being Miami Dolphins better odds. 😂

Come on,
Poyer stunk, no?
Long, who he signed a couple season ago, was so bad, he was cut in season and had a 7 mil dead cap hit.
Fuller was a JAG, who was recently cut and has a 5 mil dead cap hit.
Thats 3 guys that were starters and where no were close to very good, like you describe.

Poyer was a vet min player, yeah he wasn’t good but Miami was trying to gain draft capital from hunt and Wilkins which means they could spend big or they had to select from players teams cut.

Brewer/Brooks/Jonnu were the guys were actually spent a little money on since Brandon Jones, van ginkel, Davis and Elliot gave us a little wiggle room without losing the picks. Brewer and Jonnu both finished top 10 in their positions and Brooks I think was the best looking linebacker we’ve had since that 54 guy retired.

Fuller looked good when he played injuries were unfortunate still puzzled why they cut him, my guess is injury to his knee is worse than expected.

As for long, he just didn’t fit weavers system. He looked very good in 2023. That’s the shitty part of having 3 DC’s in 3 years, hard to find guys that can plug and play in any system.

Grier did solid for being so restricted, did it work out as planned? No but that also had to do with Tua missing games. It’s clear they had a plan and last year was their soft reset to let mega contracts go while trying to stay competitive and stock draft picks for the future.

Long wasn't a victim of Weaver's system, he had one of the highest missed tackle rate of any starting linebacker in the league last year.

He was though. Long graded as the 2nd and 6th best run defender in 2022 and 2023 to one of the worst in 2024, his miss tackle % jumped from 3.4% to 40% this year. He didn’t just forget how to tackle. Weaver had linebackers play different roles in system then fangio did. Where you line up, what your assignment all varies by scheme.

All good. After his release was he picked up by someone else?

When we lost Wikins and signed a bunch of mid DTs, we said that Weaver (Like Baltimore) used a lot of rotational DTs. Has something changed? If we rotate a lot of DTs in and out, I don't see us going after him.

What would rotating DT have to do with signing a player....absolutely nothing!!

He's THIRTY not FIFTY.
If the Fins were close to competing for a Super Bowl this year, then yes. But this sh!tshow is nowhere close to competing for the SB. Save the money. Hopefully Grier and McMoron will be gone before years end and a new regime can start with a cleaner slate. That is my hope anyway, but Im sure Ross will give Grier carte blanche to spend like a fool again.

Pass on Allen. 30 years old. Sacks have gone down each of the last 3 years. Will be very expensive and Fins are not ready to compete. Fins should be clearing cap space not adding to it in 2025.
And they will never be ready to compete if they don’t sign good players.

Umm, when you rotate 4-5 DT a game, they have low snap counts, thus, why invest that kind of money into a position when Weaver uses that philosophy…

Umm again has nothing to do with signing players. Umm or have you not figured that out yet
