Dolphins make list of top 5 worst offseasons

Try not being so negative everything you post has that slant
And I just checked your post history you literally offer nothing of value besides coming on the threads to complain and anyone that’s not talking ball and adding value I’m putting on my ignore list. I’m over the kid games so welcome to the list.

4. Miami Dolphins

Mike McDaniel caught the attention of the NFL world by quickly developing Tua Tagovailoa and building an offense that sometimes can look like the most explosive unit in the league, but the dirty truth is that Miami just doesn't beat good teams. Under McDaniel, the Dolphins are 24-9 vs. non-playoff teams, and 4-14 vs. playoff teams. McDaniel is also still looking for that first postseason win.

Did the Dolphins improve this offseason? It's hard to answer in the affirmative when you lose a talent like Jevon Holland in free agency. Miami had a solid draft, and put an emphasis on shoring up the trenches with defensive tackles Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips plus offensive guard Jonah Savaiinaea, but are those players that will get Miami over the hump?

The vibes feel low in Miami, don't they? The Dolphins' offseason got off to a terrible start when Tyreek Hill told reporters in the locker room that he was "out" directly after the regular-season finale. Hill did more than just walk back those comments. He came to OTAs humble and focused on winning back the trust of his teammates. Hill even said he doesn't deserve to be voted a team captain. That's honorable, but I would rather have Tyreek, the outspoken confident personality that believes Tua is the best quarterback of all time, than Tyreek, the somber wide receiver who is the subject of trade rumors.

Speaking of trade rumors, star cornerback Jalen Ramsey is expected to be dealt soon. General manager Chris Grier made it clear in April that Ramsey wouldn't be on this roster in 2025, and it's a huge hit to what could be the worst secondary in the NFL this season.
will be interesting what happens w ramsey and jonnu. am somewhat surprised nothing been done yet re ramsey

When, in the last 4 seasons, only 6 total linemen with over 1000 snaps have graded worse then Eichenberg, that's not the experience I want or need. Top that off with Borom who is just as bad.

Eichenberg and Borom should have NEVER been an option. Especially Eichenberg.

There is a absolutely zero credibility, reasoning or justification for signing Eichenberg, let alone both.

A Jackson, gets hurt every year. Daniels is coming back from a serious injury. Who knows if Paul will cut it. I love Jonah, but let's face it, he's a rookie.

One of those 2 are guaranteed to get significant playing time this year.

His experience of teaching how to fall on your backside, or rotate 360 degrees 4 times before blocking air is not experience needed or wanted

I get that Eichenberg has been bad, but he’s played a lot in this offense. This is presumably his last season as a Dolphin and his major task is going to be to help the guys who are replacing him. Having a guy who’s good in the classroom is the only reason he’s here. Most backup NFL OL are bad and our goal was to upgrade the starting spots. They did that. It’s a not reason to be down on the teams outlook because of the final two OL on the roster.

For this year it is what is, not a major concern for me. And certainly won’t be a reason we don’t flourish.

Next year when they have more draft picks new depth will be added. It’s certainly not a reason to downgrade the outlook.

From Ben Solaks latest article, where the sound bite is from:

If the Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey, their starting secondary will be Storm Duck and Cam Smith at outside corner, Kader Kohou in the nickel and Ashtyn Davis and Ifeatu Melifonwu at safety. I'm sorry to say that's an early candidate for "worst position group" in the league.

This may be the all-time worst Dolphins secondary in their history. Not one of these "players" would start for any other team in the NFL.

Anyone who thinks we had a bad off season didn’t comprehend our needs and biggest weaknesses over the last years = both OG positions.

Backup QB was the other major issue.

It’s probably for the best we aren’t being hyped.

But we created a big hole in the backfield compared to last year? Once Ramsey goes, we may be Cam Smith and a platoon of UDFAs.

OG position is stronger for sure.

OT position is weaker than last year, especially considering losing Lamm as swing OT that is likely to play at some point is huge.

I've only playing Devil's advocate so don't take this personal, but they did resign him so logically you are wrong. Now why would they resign him You may ask. The offensive line coach mentioned that he was a leader in the locker room. OK I can buy that. They also cited his experience which you have to admit is broader than the average offense lineman since he's been used in all five positions, so check. And they also mentioned that it takes most average players a few years to get up to speed. I don't really know about this excuse but I'm not there so I guess I could buy it. Take those three things and add them together and they make a good argument for resigning him, or so the Dolphins front office feels this is so.
Because of this I'm willing to live with this, hopefully if Eichenberg Starts it's either because of an injury or he wins a position. If it's the latter of course I could live with him starting. Do I want to see him starting? The answer is an unequivocal NO but that's because I'm only going by what I've seen the past three or 4 years.

So I'll finish this rant with, I'm not an offensive line coach, and neither am I present and see what goes on in practice, so I'm willing to look the other way on this as long as he's not given a starting position. Once the 2025 season starts I will adjust accordingly. If he ends up winning a starting position great for him, but it better be because he's one of the top 5 offensive lineman on the team as far as I'm concerned. It's kind of silly to be acting like he's a starter at this point. Let's wait until we are a week or two in the camp before we start to judge. FIns up my friend!

That dude is talking like he is the leader of the defense if you listen to his whole interview

Shoukd be a great battle in camp between him and Gay

Gay is very talented and fast
End of season, Dodson was doing really well.. 1 INTs, I believe. Due to circumstances, No one played well against the Jets

Just trying to give the board an idea about how the national and local media thinks about us..95 percent of them think we are going to take a big step back this year.

Really gonna come down to health, but seems we took the cautious route and that’s why we got graded so low.
And that same 95% picked the Jets to win the SB with Rogers as QB, so really, they have no idea.

Cleaning up the salary cap (presumably, by trading Ramsey). Chubb and Hill next year.

Finally addressing the weakness of the offense (IOL).

Adding backup QB's with real arms.

Being on the plus side of draft pick ammo in 2026.

Adding power to the running game.

Removing the players that cost us W's - Thompson, Poyer, Mostert, Huntley, Holland, Eichenberg, R.Jones

Kenneth Grant!!!!!
Not to worry, Julian Hill has promised to be his usual drive killing self. 😏

I’m admittedly a glass half full dude.

But I agree — what if the fact that we DIDN’T make all these purportedly sexy moves makes us more successful?

Young guys inevitably step up, but they can’t without opportunity.

And if anything, losing Jevon Holland will not be the nail in our coffin. ⚰️

Look I was a fan of Cam Smith and Patrick Paul as second round picks. The kids have talent and the stafff believes in them.

Everything’s gone against the last few years, if we can stay healthy, we’re a tough out for a lot of good teams.

Tua’s just gotta stay on the field for 17 games.

If those two live up to there talent this season and some of the UDFAs CBs from the last two years step up, we could have a phenomenal season. I believe until proven otherwise.
