Dolphins second wave of OTA's begin today- media updates

Grimes getting picked on today, gave up three TD's so far.

I'm wondering if Grimes playing off Wallace may be by design to allow he and RT to better work on their timing early in camp.

Im wondering where the safety is.

I think Omar said they had Grimes giving a lot of space at the LOS.

The photo he referenced on this was I think this one. https://twitter.com/OmarKelly/status/473487231978831872/photo/1 - it's 4, maybe 5 yards.

Then here's another https://twitter.com/OmarKelly/status/473479470431481856/photo/1 - what is he, 1 yard off?

I think he's reading/seeing too much into this. What ever play is called will dictate the coverage which dictates the alignment.

I really don't see how this is in any way, news worthy. It's him being him - trolling the team he's a beat writer for.

Offense played better....The tempo takes its toll on the defense...

I take it he meant last season?

Yeah, i think that's what he was implying.

Not sure , he was playing off of Williams also.

Simply cannot believe some of the comments from a certain reporter re who is progressing or declining - it's OTA's - there's no pads on, it's just shorts and a lid. It's a different game when you kit up.

As for Miller making yards up the middle and it being commented on like it's a development from last year... again.. no pads. He can go hard up the middle and know he's not going to get whacked.

Also - I wouldn't worry about Garner at LT - I do believe they want an old head who has played LG beside Turner to help with his development and the communication etc. I don't see it as a long term plan - could be wrong, but this is the sort of thing that you use OTA's and even Pre-season for.

The focuses for me reading these tweets are;
- who is lining up where... and by that I don't mean that Grimes is playing way off WR's - that's irrelevant at this stage.
- tempo out of the huddle
- motion and shifts [the fact that it's happening - woo hoo!!!]
- Alignments/personnel packages

- which 2nd/3rd stringers are getting a look with the 1's

But even with that, I take it all with a pinch of salt.

I think these three are the most important. It's about time we are beginning to see the OC take advantage of the mismatches he has against the defense. I can't wait to see how the offense has changed come training camp.

A while back, Pollian said that Wallace is a 1 on 1 WR used in a scheme last year, and that Lazor will fix that, matter of factly. We are seeing that.

omar says i smell alot of penalties with all the movement on offense...uhhh i smell a lot of blown coverages and confusion from the defense...late motion and tempo...and mike wallace moving all over the field to make it hard to bracket....bout damn time

other than that not much else to take from this...

Booing a 7-3 team is awful :yell:

Of course, so it not scoring for 7 straight quarters at home.

Bingo. All excellent points.

At this stage, all of these rookie OL are going to be overloaded mentally and making a ton of mistakes technique-wise. It is definitely preferable to have them surrounded by guys using proper technique to help the rookies learn. It would be foolish to put two rookies next to one another just yet.

This isn't a first team vs. second team thing. It is a matter of surrounding one rookie with veterans in team A, and surrounding the other rookie with veterans in team B.

By the time the 2nd preseason game comes around, we will see the starting OL played as a unit. But, until then these guys need to learn technique focusing on fundamentals. That doesn't require arm length, leg drive, or lateral quickness.

So, every time air-head Omar is shocked by Garner at LT or Thomas at LG, just realize that more than one person is being trained. Garner may be helping Turner learn LG. Brenner may be helping Smith learn RG. Thomas is learning from Albert and Pouncey ... but it doesn't mean Thomas has an inside track to start ... it just means Turner needs more teaching at this point, which is understandable.

Curious, I smell something every time Omar speaks/writes.
