Dolphins sign Samson Satele

This may actually be a good fit if we stick with a ZBS.

This may actually be a good fit if we stick with a ZBS.

I agree and have thought this since his name popped up. But there is simply too much stigma for most to overlook.

I'm not saying he's Alex Mack. But he has been relatively miscast most of his NFL career. He definitely stops the bleeding and allows us to execute the offense. It's not like we have world beaters in the backfield. As far as I'm concerned, as long as he doesn't give up sacks and keeps the pressure in front of him, he's giving us a chance to win.

He wants to play here. I like the signing.

Maybe I missed the list of Pro Bowl centers available this week, who would you prefer?

Also, if he was the 33rd rated center in the league last year, wouldn't that make him the #1 rated back-up?

If we dropped the 25% of snaps, and included all centers, Samson was #61 of 64. That would make him the #29 rated backup.

Satele didn't pan out the first time around. But hopefully the ZBS for a pass first team will fit him better.

Well we didn't get Lewan or Martin like I hoped, then we didn't bring in 3 solid vets like I hoped. Then and now I see Smith as a developmental poject. I have hope for him ... but I never expected him to succeed immediately.

So we ended up with Albert (overpaid and has injury issues but a good pass protector), Colledge (good veteran stopgap who is decent until Turner develops) and Satele. Not ideal but he isn't as bad as his roto rating either in truth.

It looks line none of our OL is strong at the run game, so we will be relying on Lazor to manufacture plays for our RB's with scheme and space.

Another season...Another mediocre offensive line...What's new?
Disappointing.

But the difference is that we spent a 1st rounder, 3rd rounder, paid the most money for any OL in free agency and brought in 5 veterans (Albert, Fox, Smith Colledge and Satele). So, while we spent a lot of resources ... Albert looks like the only major upgrade at the moment.

Let keep our fingers crossed.

I wouldn't hold a lot of hope that the zone blocking scheme will improve Satele's game to great levels. The Colts ran a hybrid scheme last season that was compiled of Man, Zone and Traps. Maybe dumbing down the schemes to just zone will help but I wouldn't get giddy over it.

Samson will still provide a needed option at center given Pouncey's absents and the lack of depth.

You guys whining about how horrible Satele was in his stint with Indy do realize they were 22-10 in that time right? Either Satele isn't as bad as your making him out to be or center isn't as important as your making it out to be, it has to be one or the other.

Satele wasn't worth the 4m Indy would have had to pay him to play, so he was cut. He is servacible at best and Miami needs center depth but pluging him in the zone blocking scheme isn't going to turn him into a top center in the league. On most rosters he is a backup so this move is done to reduce the effect of Pouncey being injured.

Most Colts fans are thrilled to see him go:

They are serious about upgrading and protecting Luck. Great move.
Go Colts!

twas a decent center? The turnstyle at Grand Central Station slow people down better than Satele did.

Anyone who watched the Colts knew he was awful. Hell Mike McGlynn was better at center. Watch the San Fran game. McGlynn was under center.

This is a great day for Colts fans everywhere.

Satele was a low effort, low-talent, unathletic bag of crap on the field. A traffic cone would’ve provided better protection for Luck.

With Grigson’s love for overpaying and for Browns personnel I’d expect Alex Mack to be signed to 5 year $65 million contract the first minute of Free Agency.

not a surprise. His salary wasn’t justified by his play. 4 mil is a solid chunk of change for a C, you need to be AT LEAST very good. Plus the position seems to be evolving towards a more athletic type than he is

Kelce, who is one of the best out there right now (IMO, the best for the system he is in) doesn’t even have that type of cap # until 2016, and that’s AFTER his new deal

C is a highly underrated position, it doesn’t matter how strong you are on the outside if you can’t hold up in the middle. But they just don’t get paid as much.

Nothing against Satele, just hated how he always whipped his head around right before he snapped the ball. Cant believe he didnt get false start calls on every down! Also cant figure out why opposing defenses didnt catch on to this, was plain as day!

Just REALLY hoping Reggie Mac doesnt get any big ideas for him to return to Oakland…

You can find someone to play at the level of Samson Satele on the waiver-wire. He’s a stop-gap players at best.

Colts fans (and relatives of Andrew Luck) everywhere celebrate. As a show of my thankfulness at this divine deliverance, I will personally seek out a Seahawks fan (my wife) and wish her well. Maybe even, dare I say it, offer a high-five. Yes, dammit! Oh, happy day! What brave new world is this!

I predict as a result of putting an inanimate carbon rod in for Satele, that Richardson’s YPC will skyrocket by ten percent. Yep, from 3.0 to 3.3. If an actual breathing human plays C, maybe even more….

He’s a 2nd string center or a “competition” player in a training camp.
