Dolphins union rep, John Denney, rips Wells report

Yes, exactly. Now for all of us who are not as bright as you genius conspiracy theorists, could you please connect the dots for us and explain "exactly" who was collaborating with each other and why? Thanks in advance.

Conspiracy theorists? I'm sorry if having the mental capacity to read between some very clearly defined lines now puts me in the same company as people who believe in alien anal probes.

Wells' firm was hired by the National Football League to investigate the National Football League. You would truly have to be the most staggeringly naive person on the entire planet to think that Ted Wells was going to come back with findings that increased his client's liability in potential civil action.

The NFLPA has every right to be upset with the contents of the Wells Report. It essentially threw three players under the bus and completely exonerated upper team management.

While I agree with your thought process......wouldn't it then be appropriate for the NFLPA to do their own investigation or expose the issues with the current investigation? Have I missed something that they have actually come out with an opinion on this?

In what I have seen of the NFLPA, the have even less credibility than the Wells report does. This is a media driven event from the beginning!

How can you rip the investigation without reading the report?

You guys that are saying "how can you rip the report without reading it" act like Denny doesn't know what was in the report and what conclusions were made by Wells. I didn't read the report either but I know what was in it and what it leads people to believe. John Denny was in the locker room everyday with those guys so he doesn't need to read a report to know what was truly going on with the team.

Ok, I'm with you so far. Is there more (i.e. involving Martin, his parents, their potential litigation, etc.), or is that it? Because if not, I suggest we take the outlandish speculation regarding their collaboration with Wells or the league or whatever and assign it to a place the sun doesn't see. Thank you again in advance.

Denney talked a lot of sense with those comments

Denney said he didn’t want to hear about the details of the report because “I’ve been in the middle of it, so I’ve got nothing to read or see or hear…. This whole thing nauseates me,” he said.

Why? “Because it’s a little too much. Everything has been blown out of proportion from my perspective.”

What about Wells’ claim that several players were harassed, not only Jonathan Martin?

“Ted Wells can go into any one of the 32 teams in the entire league and he is going to come out with the same investigation, same results,” Denney said. “Every single player in this league has been bullied if that’s what bullying is defined as. I was bullied as a rookie. Every one I’ve seen has been bullied as a rookie.”

Denney, who came into the league with the Dolphins in 2005, said he never witnessed any conduct that he considered to be over the line.

"If this is something that needs to be addressed, this should have been addressed my rookie year because nothing has changed since Day 1 that I’ve been in the league,” he said. “It hasn’t escalated. If it was bad now, it was bad then.

“I came from BYU. When I came in the league, the environment was a complete shock to me. It wasn’t something I was used to. I felt like it was something I could manage and it didn’t affect me. Everyone is affected differently. This is no blanket cure-all because everyone reacts differently to different situations. There’s no right or wrong. It depends on the person that’s been affected.”

Where is someone in the media going to do their "own report" and refute things in the Wells Report? Why is Ted Wells the master of things that are wise?

Plus, whoever did a story like that would be very famous nationally. I cannot believe someone has taken this up.

I guess one has to be PC over Martin being bullied.

Like Wells, the NFL owns most of the media too.

Will someone please think of the poor innocent meatheaded fratbros?

if he didn't read it and doesn't know what is in it how informed can he be about what was said in it? he looks foolish making such a statement.

do I think Miami was much different than other places? no, just like I don't think NE was the only team filming other teams but they got caught and will likely be punished for it. the longer folks like Denney keep commenting the longer the "scandal" will last. the official report is out, we await word on any action by the league and move on rather than dwelling on what was said especially from a guy who says he didn't read it. You may think he's helping your case but in reality he's hurting it.

I didn't read a single word of it, I couldn't even get through the cliffs, but I still know the jist of it.

you aren't speaking to the media about it, it's irresponsible of denney to remark about this w/o having read it. All he is doing is bringing more attention to it.

One more thing - to all of you who are blasting the Wells report, at no point does Denney deny any of the content in the report (as in the facts, the events, etc. - of course maybe that's because he didn't read the report ;) ). In fact, he seems to corroborate it by saying "it's the same with every other team in the league". So what he seems to have issue with then is the charge of "bullying" - i.e. "we have one player here who couldn't handle the taunts, and now we get an investigation, and predictably, an outsider labels it 'bullying'. But that's unfair since: a) It's only one player who couldn't handle it, and; b) Every other team taunts and behaves exactly the same way we do." (my paraphrase)

I can appreciate his sentiment. However, frankly, this day was inevitable and now he and everyone will have to deal with it - i.e. the day that NFL locker room behavior was exposed to the court of public opinion. And (perhaps sadly) arguments like "it was never wrong before so why is it wrong now?" will not hold any water with the public.

Per post 36, I can absolutely vouch that Byu is like no other place on earth. I'm sure Soliai, Misi, & Shelby can attest.

If someone like Denney can handle the culture shock then anyone can.

I can't recall what Steve Young said about bullygate but his 2 cents would be enlightening.

Then, so would Ziggy Ansah's who went from Ghana to Provo to working w/ N Suh.
