Egnew being waived -- Per Schefter

This has a New England steal all over it. Belichick will put confidence in Egnew and run his 2 TE sets with Gronkowski. This always happens to the Dolphins. That being said Tannehill is taking us all the way one day, definitely playoffs this year.

Never like to see anyone lose their job, but this guy literally had 9 lives in the Ireland regime. If they didn't give him so many chances to do something, I'd feel worse for him, but he just was one of those guys that just didn't have it. Best to move on and experiment with someone who could pan out to something.

Lets see.... Didn't play at all his first year and played sparingly last season during his second season. How is that equal giving a guy so many chances. If he's not good enough that's okay, but I really don't think one season of action of back up duty is giving a guy 9 lives.

Egnew blows. I hope New England wastes their time with this bum.

You guys are acting like Egnew is some amazing talent, but go look up Brett Brackett's measurables. He's an almost identical athlete.

Egnew was a waste of a roster spot for 2 years.

God speed, young man. I hope you have a future in judo. Or whatever that was you did to toughen up last summer.

I'm not saying I want him. I'm just saying this has a New England steal feel to it.

I wish him well where ever he goes. It didn't work out here, both sides move on no big deal.

If Michael Egnew goes to New England and becomes a good starting caliber tight end, I will delete my account and never return to this website. After giving you all of my vCash!

Note: If he scores one touchdown against us, that doesn't count. All former Dolphins get their one.

my only question is why now? I didn't have him on the final 53 roster but figured he would make it until the final cut down.

I think Daniel Thomas is the next vet to go now that Moreno is back.

Why is it any time a player gets cut there's a Dolphins fan here who immediately screams that the Patriots will find way to make use of him?

Have you not seen the scrap heap they've been piling through and unable to make use of ever since Hernandez went to jail and Gronk's been in/out of the lineup with injuries? I remember when certain people on here were miffed at our inability to get a guy like DJ Williams from the Packers last year. Guess who recently released him? The Patriots.

The oversimplification of who the Patriots can make use of is scary sometimes.

Charles Clay just got healthy again a few days ago and apparently Gator Hoskins is on the mend as well.

Now that one or both of those guys are practicing, team no longer needs camp bodies.

We kept bringing in tight ends, even when seemingly we didn't need any more. I wondered what was going on. I should have guessed it had to do with Egnew, that they basically had written him off and any other healthy competent body would win the comparison.

That Big 12 pass defense was so limp and pathetic for so many years it made lots of guys involved in the passing game look far better than they actually were.

Did Jeff Ireland ever actually sit across from Michael Egnew and have a meaningful conversation? That's what I've always wondered regarding that pick. How could you look into those eyes and decide that's who you want the franchise to bank on? The tape will fool you all the time if you're that limited and dunce. As I've emphasized many times, the Dolphins of my youth would bring in guys who stood out as solid driven characters. Jake Scott was dominating the practice field and the nightly interviews within his first week in camp. Many more examples. Then several years later Bobby Beathard briefly deviated from the method and got burned by lowlifes like Carlton, Reese and Crowder. Nowadays we draft and sign too many dopes. Even Dion Jordan offers plenty of that. I hope Hickey has already made it a priority to weed them out, and that Egnew was an early target.
