Emmanuel Acho going all in on Tua

Herbert is a numbers guy.
Tua wins games.
I think that's the bottom line, if you have sum up their differences in two sentences.
Numbers Guys look pretty, get press, and accolades week to week.
Winners don't always look pretty.
There is still more to be written on this comparison, though. It's still very early in their careers. I'd like to see a comparison 5 years from now taking playoffs into account.

Not true. He was top 10 in passer rating, passing tds. 31 tds with 4300 something yards in his rookie season and 5000 plus yards 38 tds last year. I would not call that average. Cmon nbp, your a better poster than that

If that's average, we need qb help because our boy hasn't ever even sniffed those stats

There is a difference in making plays when it counts, and is most needed, and making plays when it does not matter as much...This is why Tua wins while Herbert continues to fail in games. PRESSURE TIME

Personally they are two completely different styles of QB. You can't dismiss Herbert's accomplishments, he's a good QB and a lot of teams would love to have him. Personally I think the proper comparison for Herbert is Josh Allen, they are more similar QBs than Tua and Herbert. Tua is more like a Wilson or young Brees.
They are compared because we had the chance to select both and went with Tua. Tua wins games and Herbert wins meaningless stats that the Madden rookie mode champs on here seem to crave more than wins.

Herbert also seems to be who he was in college. He put up nice numbers, but watching him was strange; I remember watching several of Oregon's games his senior year, and he'd have a WOW stat line, like 24-38 for 295 yards, 2TD and 1int and he'd lose. And I'd wonder how, and then I'd realize, even with those numbers, it never felt like he'd made a play all game, if that makes sense. He was really weird to evaluate.

it's funny how the media (and some fans) now realize the importance of Tua and how good he really is. you don't know what you got till its gone

hell, even mac jones last year was getting more love than Tua.
i know it's a big IF but as long as Tua remains healthy we are set at the QB position for years

People can disagree. It's fine.

I have always said and always will... I am taking Tua over Herbert every time. Even on a re draft.

Yes, I'm being honest with myself lol.

We are already seeing how the narrative on both is slowly changing. People are starting to realize which QB is clutch and which is just a numbers guy.

Don't get me wrong. Herbert's great. But I am still taking Tua.

I vastly prefer analysis from Baldy, Orlovsky and Warner, but this is gonna trigger the crap out of the haters, so that's fine too. :p

I agree. However, Tua and Herbert will always be compared because Miami had their choice between the two.

As far as Allen and Herbert comparison. Allen and not even close right now. Allen and Mahomes have separated themselves from the rest of the pack.

Fixer, I believe the comments centered on results… not styles and physical attributes.. though your comparison between Allen and Herbert are spot on. Herbert ran some in college, as does Allen. The results are vastly different though. Interestingly, Allen’s history was that of choking on last minute throws, as he’s done twice against the Dolphins. Alternatively, Tua has made a bunch of crucial tight window throws in the clutch… and regardless of performance, his winning record speaks for itself. Tua, when given time is clutch. The issues were always about durability. The weak arm stuff was promulgated by haters and Herbert fans… IMO. We will have a chance once again to see them Mano a Mano.

As much as I love fantasy football I'll take 19-9 vs 19-20 win/loss record all day every day! And before this yr Herbert has had a better supporting cast...honestly the thing I worry about more is Tua's longevity and how he holds up...if he's on the field I will take him over Herbert all day every day even though there's throws Herbert can make that Tua can't - the intangibles win games.
