Feeley remains a mystery

Yeah, I can't remember exactly what Marino said about him 1 year, but it was pretty funny.

Marino NEVER said anything bad about AJ. He never said he would succeed, but he never said he was bad. What I do remember him saying was AJ had talent, but whether he would develop he didnt know.

The article hits it on the head, AJ has the physical talent, the mental part is what is in question. Whether it is technical ability or lack of preparation skills, he doesnt seem to be proficient in that area.

TONS of QBs have the physical talent to be in the NFL, it's the mechanics and decision making that seperate them from being successful.

Please.....a QB with a good arm are a dime a dozen.

Feeley is where he is for a reason. He had every chance in the world, a fair shot, yet pizzed it away.

Good article this is how I feel about the whole situation is he is a great talent that needs to learn on the field with a decent o-line, he has the ability if given a fair opportunity with quality players around him!

I agree basically with the article as well, but he'll NEVER get a fair opportunity here in Miami...If he ever starts or plays here again, he'll be lambasted for every dropped pass and every time he throws the ball away because no one is open...the fact of the matter is that AJ will never get a fair shake in Miami...he might as well be replaced with one of the guys out there now, like Couch or Davey...

I don't see how or why people keep saying this. Saban had ALL OFFSEASON to determine who was in the lead for our starting QB, could it be possible he saw that Frerotte was ahead of Feeley before the preseason started??? And besides, Feeley had 2 starts, Gus had 3 and one of Gus's he only threw 5 passes, I'd say they both had the same amount of opportunity

The same offseason that AJ was spending LEARNING his 3rd offense in 3 years...Gus had the edge all along, not only on knowledge of the system, but the knowledge of the coaches...Not only that, but the fan base has blamed last season on Feeley as well. Face it, Feeley did not and will not get a fair shake here...he might as well be moved on...

He was talking about what Marino said about Salisbury, not AJ.

Anytime I have ever read articles regarding Feeley and they come from either a player, former player, coach or scout they all say that AJ needs time in a system to develop. And they all say that he has the physical skills to be a very good, not just good, quarterback. The advice is always have patience to see what he can do. It's too early to tell if he will ever reach or not reach his potential.

The only time I ever read that AJ is a bust or that he will never make it in the game, the article or post is written by journalists or fans whose advice is get rid of him.
Instant Gradification. Fans think a player is as good as he will ever be.

Last year when fans were yelling that Miami should trade for Henson, because he was so good at Michigan & had all the qualities you want in a QB.

I posted that whomever got Henson was getting a QB for the 2007 or 08 season. However, now most consider Henson to be a bust, because he is not starting or even 2nd team.

Fans seem to think that a player can play his freshman year in college & then sit out 3 or 4 years and be ready to play at the NFL level in just one year.

AJ may never get the chance to grow into the QB some believe he can be, simply because no coach seems to want to go through the growing pains with him. All would rather sacrifice tomorrow for today.

I've posted before winning 6 games with AJ/Sage would most likely have a better long term effect on Miami then winning 7/8 with Gus.

I'm hoping that starting Gus is just a short term thing right now & that one of the other QBs will get a short later in the season after a little more time in the offense.

I think you are correct.

Most fans have hated AJ simply because they did not like the trade, so they bashed him from the beginning, when he did not look like a star they think a 2nd Rd pick should bring. Most fans overvalue 2nd Rd. picks. They saw a 2nd Rd pick for him, when in fact the years wait made it a 2nd rather than a 3rd.

LOL watch what you say people.

I have 2 words for you all

JASON TAYLOR

That guy gets dinged almost every game and all u see is him fall to the ground, clench his hands together and stick his butt up in the air.

He is forever rolling and making a big old play out of it then he is back on the field 2 plays later.

It happens more often then not lately.

BUt I am sure this doesn't fly well in the locker room either huh?
yeah, OK, whatever.

I don't ever want to see A.J. Feely's face in a Dolphin uniform ever again. Tha about sums up how I feel about him right now.

I've felt this way all along. The guy always has something wrong or is getting dinged. Then he has to make a big spectacle of it. And about that game last year in Seattle when he got slapped on the butt when it was "injured"....please  there is nothing on the buttock that would cause that much pain unless his tailbone, hip or femur was broken, and they weren't, or the Sciatic nerve was exposed. He screamed like he was being stabbed for God sake...pure drama that TV and fans ate up.

This supports my thread I had about 2 weeks ago stating that I believe Feeley has a problem with his mechanics. It turned into quite a long discussion here.

There absolutely IS a lot of stuff on the buttocks that can be injured in a situation like that. Have you ever heard of a piriformis spasm? Well, the sciatic nerve exits the lesser sciatic foramen right under the piriformis muscle. If this muscle is in spasm, it can impinge upon the sciatic nerve. The superior and inferior gluteal nerves also exit superior to the piriformis muscle.

I've treated people with piriformis spasm, and believe me. If you palpate these patients at the right spot, they will jump up off the table in pain.

The structure of his contract won't allow Miami to be patient with him. They aren't going to guarantee that 5th year and up his base salary into the $3.5 million range next season when he hasn't proven that he can do the job. His chance will have to come somewhere else.
