Finally, Cortland Finnegan's contract numbers

I thought this would effectively be a one year deal.

If Finnegan does not pan out, Miami can cut him in 2015 like they did Patterson this year.

If Finnegan pulls a Grimes and shines, Miami has him at a discount in 2015.

I guess that shows what they believe he can do and that's start. He got starter money, even if that's in the nickel nowadays the nickel is a starter and that's where I see finnegan

Easy out after first year so basically a one year deal. I'm cool with it.

I hope Finnegan proves all these haters wrong.

He's far more versatile than Patterson.....would u guys take a former pro-bowl caliber CB in Finnegan with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove, or a Patterson who can barely play a half of a season?

It's a no brainer. I'd rather Finnegan as a veteran leader who may (or may not---remains to be seen) return to his former self for 16 games than Patterson for 8...The odds are better and to me, this moves makes sense

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 20s Dolphins could've kept Patterson for same money. They were either more worried about Patterson's health, think Finnegan is is better or both

Both.

This is a calculated one year gamble similar to what Miami did with Grimes last year.

MIA has the cap this year and can cut Finnegan next year.

Exactly.

It's a win win really.

Basically a one year deal for a little bit extra cash on Finnegans side.

If Finnegan pulls a Grimes and reverts back to Pro Bowl form we get him for 2nd year at way cheap.

If not, 2015 is non-guaranteed, just chop him.

$5.5 mil guaranteed whether he ever plays a down for us or not in 2014 i guess...now i know why he skipped out on other visits he said he had lined up...

Not bad and an upgrade over Caroll. I dont see why the love fest for Nolan on here and Patterson can't stay healthy for the life of him.

Its basically a one year deal in which if he proves himself, he gets the second year. I see nothing that bad about this contract

He is not an upgrade over Carroll

I was hoping to change my mind on the Finnegen signing based on the contract details, and hate to pick on Finnegen on Saint Partick's Day. However, that is not the case. BAD deal. JMO

Last year I had multiple agents question the Phillip Wheeler contract. Getting same reaction from couple to Finnegan deal now.

he is right... Finnegan robbed us blind

That's the same amount Grimes signed for last year. SMH
