Our Dolphins will be better in 2023. Let us count the ways:

McD is very smart, learned a lot in year #1 and can't wait for year #2

Fangio is taking over our D.

Our OL had a year to learn the Zone blocking and each other.

Next

Very well said, here are my 10 reasons we will be better In 2023....

1. So Be hit it on the head, year one for McD was a testing the waters, and learning experience for him, he will do much better, as well as be more prepared in what he wants to do in year 2. He's far too smart not to see his mistakes, and what worked.

2. Again, yes So Be, bringing in Fangio is the single most important move this off season. If Miami D had played even a little better last year they might have won 12 wins, taken the East, gotten a 1st round bye, and then who knows what they might have done.

3. With letting go of Jones (Someone that could not be counted on), Miami needed at least another solid Corner, but what does Miami do, go out and get another elite Corner in Jalen Ramsey to put on the other end of X. Miami is loaded with good to above average DBs, now you have two of the best and most dangerous corners on each end, with above average, not exactly slouches in their own right DB patrolling the no fly zone secondary...Good luck putting two completions together in a row.

4. We now have a blocking TE that knows what he's doing. Yes, we all hope for a complete TE that can catch passes as well as be a bigtime blocking presence, but in our offense Blocking is far more important with the type of weapons we have at receiver and RB. The speed on the Dolphins is so insane, that even one huge block extra, very well means a "Taking it to the house" play at any moment. Also, you never know if on the Dolphins, Saubert also becomes a better receiving TE. Miami also in my opinion will be going after another TE in the Draft.

5. Unlike last year, Miami now has a new returner in Barrios that will help Miami have better field position, but if you think that is where it will end with him, not even close. He is yet another weapon in the Welker mold, who once you get him the ball, defenses have to worry about containing him, let alone stopping him.

6. What So Be again said is very true about the O-Line, that it should be better. The line is a huge work in progress, and will need a lot of pieces to work better together, but finally they have talent, and have been working together, growing together, that alone should effect them to at the very least take a small step forward, and that in a high powered Offense could be enough to allow what would be a 5 or 10 yard completion, or a 2 or 3 yard run before, now becomes a big to huge play for chunk yardage. Oh, and we may still not be done with this line.

7. Some were down on Jevon Holland last year because they expected him to have a better sophmore year then his rookie year. How was he going to accomplish that in a secondary that had almost everyone injured, he was the 1st, main, and last line of defense in the secondary, he was forced to do far more then should have been expected of him...Oh and by the way, he still did very well. This year he will be able to go back to what he does best in Fangio's defense.

8. Oh, and speaking of Holland, of Fangio earlier, as well as how talented the secondary is with and behind X and Ramsey. Fangio's defense loves to use it's Safties (Can you say possible All-Pro year for Holland), along with Holland, we also have Brandon Jones (The reliable Jones), and Miami went out to get Deshon Elliott (Who had a career year in 2022)...Let's admit it, that secondary is going to look like a minefield for QBs.

9. Miami had an issue in the defense outside of the injuries to the secondary last season, and it was LB (On the inside to be more precise). So we go get a LB in David Long that FINALLY can fall back into coverage and actually look good at it, while being a very dependable tackler, with good speed. We also got Malik Reed, someone that also is a sure tackler, but his specialty is getting to the QB.

10. Tua is going to actually see the same OC for the 1st time in his career since before College. He will not need to learn a new offense, get used to new players, have to make changes other then the way he falls to stay healthy, which he's doing. This should be a better version of the QB that had the highest QB rating this past year. He finds a way to stay healthy, then there are few weak links on this team.

Bonus: We got Chubb last year, in hope of getting insane type sack numbers from him, but it did not happen. Walk in Fangio, the Coach that was with the Broncos when Chubb had one of his best years...Phillips and Ogbah are probably twirling their thumbs with an excited evil look in how will opponant QBs be able to get rid of the ball on time with Miami's secondary...How will they be able to double team Chubb, Phillips, Ogbuh, and Wilkins from getting into the backfield?

I just love seeing people that have no idea how Miami will be that good next year, or people that laugh at me when I say Miami will probably win the East, get a bye, and do huge damage in the playoffs, if not still be there come February. Fun times coming soon. 😃

Focusing on #2. I agree the D (mostly secondary) cost 2-3 games. It is also true play-calling, TOs, and slowness getting in plays cost 2-3 games. And the loss of TT cost 2-3 games. Note: those are not cumulative.
I agree, the D is much improved. I suspect Mcd will be more 'enlightened' in his OC duties. I also expect TT to have fewer injuries. Based on speculation, I doubt Miami will have as many injuries to a specific position. '23 should be fun.
